I wouldn't mind him for cheap. His concussion problems are still worrisome though.

Go after him hard. With Kaberle, Weber and Diaz all on the roster last year, he can earn himself a slot by simply not sucking.

if he learned his lesson, I hope he's in the gym as we speak. All they have to do is send a team official to speak to him and report on his physical condition, then they can come up with a decision.

But my guess is that he's doing a quebec fast food tour with the intention of writting a book called the perfect poutine.

We'll have secondary scoring problems until Galchenyuk, Colberg, Kristo, etc... are ready. AKost had his fault but those extra goals he provided need to come from somewhere. Bourque hasn't replaced Cammalleri.

Latendresse needs to be considered among other options. Perhaps he might work better with Therrien than Jacques Martin?

Nah, he's done imo. Too much of a risk to take. And we have our fill of powerforwards right now: Pac, Cole, Bourque, Moen in a sense... we don't need him.

A healthy Latendresse is a definite upgrade over Bourque as a 2nd line winger. He was playing some very good hockey in Minnesota before his injuries. I would sign him to an inexpensive one year deal and hope he's 100%.

I really hope Schultz doesn't get an offer.

His sense of entitlement (wants to be guaranteed a top 4 spot) makes me want to stay well away from him.

Trash on Weber all you want, but the kid has developed exactly how a d-man in the league should (albeit he hasn't progressed like he should have) and guaranteeing a kid with ZERO professional games in his career top 4 minutes (or even a spot in the line up for that matter) is asinine.

I think Guillaume would probably play well with DD. His signing would probably permit us to have something like this...

Guillaume-DD-Cole
MaxPac-Plek-Gionta
Bourque-Eller-Moen

MaxPac would really complete the Plek and Gionta line. Three pretty decent lines and cap money to spend. Maybe Gaustaud and Winnik for the 4th line?

Winnik-Gaustad-White

It gives you 4 pretty good lines.

Another one of these threads for Tenderness yaaaa. Anyways, no I would not take him back and it looks like it is something we can stop talking about here as he gets closer to re-signing with the Wild. http://www.twincities.com/ci_20924926/xxxxxxxxxxxx

It would be amazing.. We would have to offer him the same salary of last year to increase our chances to get him though, anyway I dont see it as a prob since it would be a 1 year contract..

In a perfect world we should be able to trade Weber to a team that needs a right handed offensive dmen for a player that fills our need. We cant seriously keep Weber and Diaz in the line up. They might as well share the same jerseys. My question is what kind of player is Schultz? Can he actually crack our top 4? If so we might as well try but i would not bend over backwards for him. Your absolutely right about his character.

I kindda agree with that. He impressed again last season, but the guy won't be a ppg player til he's 50 ! Has to slow down at some point. I don't think he's a great fit for us.

The field is really thin this year. Nothing really exciting past the first 2 names.

It would relieve me to hear that Latenesse has signed with the Wild. He blew his chance with the Habs but it in with the Wild (another non-playoff team last season). The Habs have restocked their forward complement in the draft and don't need him.

A thought just occurred to me and I'm sure it's been covered. What if Sid doesn't extend with Pitt.? Maybe he does what Staal does this year and doesn't want to extend.

I don't think we'd get Parise or Suter but if we aren't near the playoffs come deadline time, I want to see how much salary we shed to POTENTIALLY make room for Sid.

I also know that this is a dream, but that's why you buy lottery tickets...To dream.

I was one of Latendresse's biggest haters when he was here but he was never really THAT bad. I have to admit I liked what he brought to the team in 2008-2009 when he played with Lapierre and Kostopoulos, he understood his role and played it just fine. If he's willing to accept a 1 year contract at 1.5 million, I'd give him a shot. He's probably really hungry (no pun intended) to prove that he's healthy and that he can still produce in the NHL after his last two years that have been filled with injuries. He did have 25 goals in 55 games with the Wild so he definitely has offensive upside. He can be a decent project and an insurance in case Bourque doesn't produce.

Cole - Desharnais - Pacioretty
Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Latendresse - Eller - Moen
Prust - Gaustad/McClement - White

Absolutely he was arguably one of the best players on Minnesota when he was not hurt. The new regime should have it's chance at making Lats what he can be.
