Some combination of Shultz, Prust, and/or Gaustad.

Renaud P Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS

Marc Bergevin told me he's confidant to make a deal with Travis Moen this week.

So I guess the goal to have the most overpaid group of bottom 6 forwards in the league?

I dont want Gaustad only because I think he will demand a lot of money. The UFA crop is terrible this summer so he can ask for more than he's worth.

If for some reason he's willing to sign for cheap then sure.

I've never been this uninterested in a July 1st.

Haha, Kadri(AHL route) is a bust at 21, but Schultz(NCAA route) at 21 is so sought after he's picking where to go. Gold.

I don't think payment is going to be an advantage, he is going to get the max amount for an entry level contract. That being said I agree I think he will go play with the Oil.

I think Burke will go after Penner, but ultimately he will sign in LA or someone else will severely overpay for him. I wouldn't mind us getting Brandon Prust at the right price.

Unfortunately:

Tootoo
Gaustad
Prust

I'm guessing we'll get one of those guys.

Prust.

Prust Steckel Brown

Scratch: Orr

Orr and Brown rotate based on which team they play.

He's a defensive liability, and that's an awful thing for a centre. It's not good for a winger either but it's less impactful.

I could very likely see Burke sign Penner on a short term deal to allow him to rebound. Maybe a 2 year $5 / 6 million deal.

Aside from that, I see him signing at least one bottom 6 player and one bottom pairing D with size and a snarl.

Don't forget Kamarov (sp?) ... I think he's pencilled into the 4th line as well.

SBnation is fairly vague, but it does give you a description of almost every player in the league.

I.E. - Jordin Tootoo
http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54419/jordin-tootoo

Assets - Has a motor that never quits. Hits everything that moves. Displays some offensive instincts and decent hands. Plays with a lot of passion. Can play either wing position.

Flaws - His rock 'em, sock 'em style will at times hurt his team more than it helps, since he tends to rile up opponents in a big way or take a bad penalty. Has had to deal with off-ice issues.

Career Potential - Effective agitator with versatility.

His defensive game is so under rated its not even funny. Your one of those guys that don't actually watch games aren't you.

Kadri was fine defensively this season. He only got sent down because of salary reasons since we have LACK taking up spots.

Gaustad, Prust, Schultz, Suter

Those 4 would make us a playoff team.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
JVR - Grabo - Kulie
Kadri - Gaustad - Frattin
Brown - Steckle - Prust

Suter - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Schultz
Gunnar - Holzer

Reimer
Scrivens

Shane doan would be a perfect fit, but he isn't leaving Phoenix.

I watched the games, he was fine yes, because he played on the wing. Toss him back to centre and his defensive game won't be underated.

No one really.

We need spots for Kadri, Frattin and maybe even Colborne and D'Amigo. Free agents take away from that.

Unless we get a Parise or Sutter, we should stay away from free agents, preserve any cap space we have and let our deadweight contracts of Armstrong, Connolly, Komisarek expire.

Paul Gaustad is not a good 3rd line center on a good team.

Schultz and that's it.

I'm tired of waiting to see what bad contract Burke hands out on July 1st. We've just got no more room for them. He can wait for Connolly, Armstrong, and Komisarek to become UFAs before he should be allowed to sign anymore UFA players.
