I don't agree with this at all. Completely disagree. Wishart did not look terrible in his time up at the NHL level. He has a very long reach and can make a decent outless pass. He's a little bit of a wuss with his body frame, but let's not act like he was Janne Ninimma out there. This guy has potential.

Am I missing something?

5 pm is the deadline, and like trade day, announcements trickle in for some time after...

I am guessing Wishart isn't getting qualified. From my memory he signed a 1 way deal last year meaning if they qualified him he would be getting the NHL min salary or close to it(which is way to much to spend on a AHLer)

Isles have to give QO's to the Euro guys just to keep them under team control while they're away. Definitely give to Katic, Dibo, and Rahk.

I think Rhett's gotten a raw deal, injuries didn't help, but I think he's ready to compete for a bottom six role. I'd rather have young energy guys on the 4th line than the Marty Reasoner poo poo platter.

After this draft, and in light of the terribly bland and unexciting season he had last year, I think he walks.

would have been a fine time to say goodbye to Wishart. but whatever, as long as he stays in Bridgeport I don't care.

Suprised that they kept Marcinko, but I guess that they like him for Bridgeport.

Meh. See you later, guys.

I'm really surprised they wanted to keep nobodies like Backman and Marcinko around. None of them will ever sniff the NHL

Am I the only one here who understands that not every guy we qualify will have to "sniff the NHL" to be a good keep? You need bodies or your minor league affiliate.

Why didn't they kept Tony Romano. He got 24 points in his 23 last games? Seems like better AHL depth then Backman and Marcinko.

I guess they had no use for Alexandrov if Petrov isn't coming.

Surprised about Wishart, not about Marcinko.

I don't know that Alexandrov needs to be qualified...he was qualified before going to Europe. Does he need a new offer every year?

So these players are gone:

McNeely
Riendieu
Romano
Alexandrov

And these players have expiring contracts and could be headed to UFA:

Haley
Colliton
Reese
Frischmon

Not a bad offseason when you've really got only one player (Martin) to worry about. I'd like to see Haley and Reese get contracts.

Need bodies in Bridgeport..

Probably keeping Backman just because he's Moulson's brother in law.

I've been surprised the last two years that Marcinko has been qualified. He never puts up numbers at the AHL level, but he's obviously doing something right. Why is it that this guy is always qualified? Is he a good bottom 6 guy or a heart and sole kind of guy?

By all accounts, it looks like Reese coming back is all but a signature away. I think Haley is a goner though.

I thought Jonathan Quick was Moulson's brother in law...

How many freakin' professional hockey player brothers-in-law does he have?

It's pretty sad that I know this but...

Backman is MM's wifes brother.
Quick is MM's wifes sisters husband.
