3-0 on a short-handed goal by Hinote. Another special teams meltdown

bergeron is now tied for 7th in rookie scoring. He is tied with pitkanen for tops among defensemen.

HORCOFF SUCKS!

Feel better now?
Nice clean win on the faceoff for the goal, though. Still:

I only saw bits and pieces but I thought Hemsky was really working ou there, over the last few games there has been a noticible difference in his level of ctivity with and without the puck. Too bad he was stuck with *****-coff

I don't understand what they are trying to do on the powerplay. The puck stays on the outside and no one seems to go to the front of the net. Geez, there are times when they have 2 players behind the net. Does any one see even a hint that they are trying to work a system? I mean, I keep hearing that they practice the power play but I just don't see it.

one or two pp goals would make a world of difference.

Once a year it looks for all the world like MacTavish has lost the team. I'm not suggesting he has, but the pp and pk look like battered wife syndrome to me.

I still say the oilers are a ton better with Oates in the lineup and I dont think anyone can argue with THAT!

Bang on!
He was hitting, shooting and setting the table. Even though he had no points this was one of his best games so far.

We do need defensive help. A good d-man to help on the PK and have the potential to be a no.2-3 in the future. I don't buy that we can't get a top flight defenseman for Comrie. It can happen.

What we truly need is for the entire team to buy into a more conservative game plan. The forwards are making ridiculously easy clearing attempts into disasterous turnovers mainly from trying cute little passes that have been getting picked off. At the offensive blueline they are turning the puck over as well leading to odd man rushes and penalties. Defensive zone faceoffs are still killing the Oilers. At least 2 goals and 3 penalties were caused because the Avs got control of the puck directly off an offensive zone faceoff.

I think its becoming ever more painfully obvious than before that Larague needs to be traded. He does nothing on the ice, and we know that he has value around the league. Im touched about his devotion to playing for Edmonton, but he doesnt seem to play with.. any hint of emotion.

Hey, Im actually a fan of his, and I know Lowe wont trade him, but I think any deal involving Larague... we win.

It was nice to see Oates really look good and comfortable outthere tonite.

Right problem, wrong solution.

Fix the breakout to fit our team (speed and some nifty passers). This team will not win with a more conservative game plan. It is built to skate, hit, score, and win that way. This is not a team that can try to win 2-1, nor should any good team. This team needs to be forechecking successfully and using it's speed to get around the opposition defence again. We've gotten away from that the last few games.

And if we could ever just have a decent powerplay....PLEASE!!!!
Stop playing only one side already...even Adam Oates can't make that garbage work.....

This is where we find out how real Conks is. I think he has what it takes to be a starter now we find out how he handles adversity. As far as Hemsky, Torres, Isbister, and Dvo go, they are showing the intensity we need. Laracque is really wasting his time out there. Either he has to pick it up or he has to be traded. Overall I think they can bust out of this slump vs SJ but the intensity has to be there.

the lineup mact is going with right now looks brutal out there and i imagine he will bring out the blender again. is it just me or do some of the players not want to touch the puck. too many times this week we have seen guys handle the puck like a hot potato, gimme a break.
