"Pest plays like someone put Atomic Balm in his jock"
Tiny shift disturber with tons of heart is a real Red Line favourite. Barely 5-9/175 lbs, but plays like he's 6-2/210. Utterly fearless and refuses to back down from anyone. Always first into the corners and in the middle of all scrums after the whistle - gets under opponents skin. Battles fiercely for possession. Grinds it out all over the ice and will go up and down the rink chirping all night. Was a big part of Portland's secondary scoring in the playoffs. Got mostly 3rd line minutes with deep club, but smart passing and puck skills showed when paired with talented linemates. Strong hockey sense and offensive instincts allow him to react to different situations, going from pest to scorer in the same shift. Brings a ton of energy to each shift and leaves it all on the ice. needs to bulk up to continue this style at the next level.
Leipsic is a small, but highly-skilled offensive forward for the Winterhawks. He's got very high end hands and isn't afraid to mix up things and get dirty, despite his size. Likes to play the role of an agitator, but can also hurt teams on the scoreboard. Had a very good playoff run for Portland and will be relied upon big time next season with the likely departure of Sven Baertschi. Not sure how he's valued out there, but his size is the big knock. I like him as a 4th rounder, likely to be taken in the 6th or 7th, if at all.
Sounds like he could be a sleeper. His development next season should be the real indicator as to what his maximum offensive potential is. Sounds like a solid 3rd liner with jam. Just worried about his lack of size considering the style of game he plays.
