Having said that though, and while I am not a pro scout at all, my bet would be to believe that Dansk has a chance to be the best goalie of them all....so why not go with him? I know...the answer is....'cause they didn't think he was. But when it's clearly the reason why you are keeping the 29th pick in an average draft when you can clearly drop in a much better one....and seeing that Dansk was picked not that far after that....somehow they should have went with Dansk anyway.

Thing is....let's be happy they didn't. 'Cause if the rumor is true...and let say Matteau and Collberg are available at our pick....chance that Matteau ends up to be our pick? And while I would have loved to have him, I think we are better suited with Collberg....

Looks like Pavelec just signed for 5 years at 19.5 million. Yearly breakdown as follows: 3.25M 3.5M 3.75M 4.25M 4.75M

He's the same age as Price and both have similar amount of starts over the past two years. Price's numbers are better but I imagine Pavelec's new contract will be used during the arbitration hearing as a minimum baseline. I'm guessing Price can score an extra million per year on top of what Pavelec got.

Can't imagine Pavlecs name even coming up in the Price negotiation. Two totally different players and Price will make BANK on his contract. I can't imagine a situation where Price makes less than $6M a year on average or close to it.

Pavelec also had the KHL as leverage.

But still, while I like Pavelec, Price's stats are better and Price in general is more reliable, so I expect Price to make more. Probably another million a year is right.

Not a lot is known about the arbitration process but apparently it's very statistics-based (and not the fancystats kind of statistics) with an emphasis on comparing the season before the arbitration year as a baseline. The arbitrator may not even be a hockey person so anything about technique can't really be used either way.

Benny Pou was not qualified by Tampa. Meaning they gave away Ouellet and that pick to the Bruins for nothing.

Hopefully Habs go after Mueller and Latendresse. Low risk high reward. It would also mean guys like Leblanc and Galchenyuk won't be rushed just to play roster filler.

They don't need to qualify him, no one else probably wants him

. Habs should sign him AND Lats, play 'em on the same line for a little internal competition.

We need Bernier too so we can form a "Big, French and Lazy" line.

Heard that.

Funny thing is Columbus said no. Hilarious, and stupid on their behalf.

Can you imagine the reaction in this board if the Habs did that .. I mean either one .. offer an entire draft to move up 2 picks or refuse an offer like that.

I can't figure out which one is dumber

Yeah, I should re-iterate that both actions are retarded.

Would have been interesting if Yakupov-Galchenyuk went 1-2...

That would make the Islanders dumb and Columbus dumber if true.

Imagine if Yakupov and Galchenyuk went 1, 2?

Snow: "Hi Mr. Bergevin, it's Garth. Yeah, we're really high on Murray and we want him."

Bergevin: "But Garth, we don't even..."

Snow: "Wait! Just listen. We'll swap picks with you and on top of that, we'll give you all of our picks after that."

Bergevin: "....."

You know what I just thought, not even Gauthier would make a stupid offer like that.

I seriously don't know who's more dumb, Snow for offering that ridiculous package to move up two spots, or Howson for turning it down.

This. Draft picks outside the first round tend to be overvalued compared to the actual odds of drafting an NHLer but that's a ridiculous package when Murary isn't a clear-cut consensous #2 guy like Malkin or Seguin were in their draft year.

Supposedly the deal was in case Yakupov fell to 2nd. I don't know if Snow was planning on only pulling the trigger for Yakupov or if he was rolling the dice, if it's the later it's a pretty crazy gamble.

According to Pierre Mcguire, this is because this year's draft was the weakest it's been since 1999 and the Islanders were betting on that.

Wasn't there a weak draft not long ago that turned out to become very good?
