Seems like a great guy; good interview. Sounds like the stereotypical good 'ol Canadian farm boy.

I'm thinking this trade is going to be one that really works out for both teams. Staal is going to thrive I think, especially playing beside his brother (on the same team). But the assets that the Pens have acquired ... Well the value is all there.

I can see Sutter with Dupuis (hopefully) on his line being a very fast dynamic 3rd line.

Anyone have a link or transcript of the interview, if one exists?

Just listened to the interview on the X w/ Madden. He says all the right things. His take on defense really had me pumped. While Staal typically avoided those questions, Sutter went right at it and talked about how much he loved it and going up against top lines. That was the part that won me over.

Boring interview but says all the right things.

I saw some have already been posted, but here's a few more examples of Sutter's breakaway speed and finishing ability when he has the chance:

The guy is 23. I wouldn't be surprised to see him become a little more offensive as he gets more comfortable.

He's got a pretty good shap-shot, actually.

He has a great release and his shot is very accurate. Wasn't really able to showcase it a whole lot though.

Can you imagine the ****-storm that will ensure in Carolina in a couple years if we look back and he's scored 25G a couple times?

He does have some nice moves and his speed is outstanding. If we can get Kennedy to stop taking so many dumb shots and use his speed to set up passes for Sutter from behind / around the net, that might actually work. Kennedy has shown at times he's a much better passer (in terms of accuracy and timing) than he is a shooter. He can't create the space but if his speed can get him to the puck first on turnovers resulting in dump-ins and quick chances this could work. If Kennedy chest snipes from the right half wall all year, Sutter might not sniff 20.

Better yet, get him a Ray Whitney to play with (assuming we also get one of Parise or Ryan). That would be dynamite.

Kunitz - Geno - Neal
Parise - Sid - Dupuis
Whitney(or Jeffrey) - Sutter - Cooke / Tangradi
Tangradi / Cooke - Vitale - Kennedy

Everyone where they belong.

I've been all over youtube this weekend watching videos of him. Liking him more and more. Partly because Jordan Staal was my second fave and I want to be happy with him getting his wish with Carolina, but also because this could work out okay. As 3Cs coming back go, we probably got the best option out there.

Too early for the Sutter = Staal with better speed and release wise-cracks?

Like I said earlier, the Pens are definitely my second favorite team now; I'll be watching a lot next season. I'm also pretty sure I'll be up for the November 23rd game.

He's definately fast on the break-away. Really hope we see that a couple of times from him this season.

I don't think there will be a ****-storm. A lot of people thought he had 25G, 50pt potential if he had more offensive opportunities. A few years ago when he did get some PP time when BrindAmour was still there taking more defensive duties, Sutter had 21G (5 on the PP) and 40 points in 72 game and that's when he was 21.

I don't think he's the player Jordan Staal is, but I do think he can be a 20-25G guy who plays great defense if he's given some offensive opportunities and better linemates (he had Nodl and Dwyer in Carolina).

It seems like noone is excited/talking about Dumoulin. I think he is going to be awesome and was a huge part of this trade.

I made a number of comments about him earlier in the thread. He was one of my favorite Canes prospects and I had high hopes for him. The only concerns with him IMO, is foot speed. If he can improve on that, he should be quite a force on the blue-line for years to come.

Not sure Sutter will be happier with Kennedy on his wing after a dozen games watching Kennedy chest-snipe every time the line enters the offensive zone.

even so, Kennedy's output alone is 13 points more than both of Sutter's typical line-mates combined. Dwyer with 12 point and Nodl with 8 on the year.

Jordan was my favorite Penguin, so I'm going to miss him big time. I still can't believe his lame agent leaked the offer the Pens made to him. Totally screwed the organization, but I think Shero managed to make some lemonade out of lemons. Now if we can just get Parise or Suter, the Penguins are looking good.
