A guys career could end tomorrow. I can totally understand why he cant risk another year or two making the AHL salary. The KHL salary will give him some financial freedom. I think Zooks will be back. Slats made no bones about it that while he understood Mats having to take the KHL money but that he wants Mats back down the road.
I think nyc will keep a close eye on zuke the next year, invite him to camp and take it from there...
but the QO is only a 2 way deal right??
Players can turn down the qualifying offer--the team keeps the player's rights and can work out a different contract. I guess this thread will be around for a while longer.

Today is NHL deadline for qualifying offers to RFAs. For #NYR on #NHL level, Del Zotto and Zuccarello will get QOs, Stralman will not.
Wonder why Stralman didn't? Might as well retain his rights even if he was going back home...

Re: Stralman. Rangers just clarified. They have (repeat, have) qualified Stralman. There was some confusion in communicating with them.

I don't think it's surprising Wolski wasn't qualified--Florida would be on the hook for $3.8 million next year. They can still negotiate with him on a lower salary and obviously, he can look elsewhere. Seems a little early to give up on a player who has already scored over 60 points in the NHL and was hurt a big part of last season.
The Blueshirts also made qualifying offers to AHLers in goalie Cam Talbot, forward Casey Wellman and defenseman Pavel Valentenko, but chose not to offer Andreas Thuresson, Lee Baldwin, Francois Bouchard, Sam Klassen and Chris Chappell.
well yea it was way to high.......he will sign somewhere for sure. He scored before so someone will let him try again just for alot less. Meuller wasnt qualified either.....that was a weird deal in the end
Unless already stated here Stralman's agent says "Stralman wants to play in the NHL, end of discussion". He also says "Rangers have expressed interest in keeping him, and he wants to be there aswell".

Stralman should absolutely be kept, and I have no problem with him being a regular as opposed to a spare. I don't think he'll want to stay as a spare, he's good enough to get regular minutes somewhere.
