Yea I definitly want a second-liner. Penner it is then. He's inconsistant, but he seems to have gotten his **** together.

Also how much would Lats be willing to play on a third line in Montreal? He pratically left because of that.

Depends on the 3rd-line. If it's an exploitation scoring line then it would be a great fit for him - get a lot of offensive opportunities in easy minutes, pump-up his personal stats and rebuild his value. If it's a supposedly defensive line like he was stuck on when he was in Montreal not so much.

Honestly, I'd give Fehr a chance. He's a pure sniper that hasn't been able to put it all together in the NHL, I remember his shot to be great and we need someone like that now that we don't have Cammalleri around anymore.

Also, if Latendresse want to come back, I'd replace Bourque with him any day of the week, even with the concussion risks.

He's hurt pretty often though, and his skating is pretty bad. He's big, but I'm not sure he knows that, I think he's too inconsistent for my liking.

I don't want Penner just because of his twitter hissy fit when Patches won the Masterton. I know, petty, but let him choke on a pancake or something.

Fehr's been decent the few times in his career he's been able to stay healthy for any bit of time. Not my first choice by any means but worth watching

Peter Mueller will not receive a qualifying offer and is set to be a free agent. Injury riddled the last few years but a big body that can put up pts and mostly goals. Should the habs go for it?

There must be something missing. Have they done enough med tests that they've confirmed that his concussions have made him THAT fragile?

I'd give him the QO for 1 year. Nothing to lose and better than Bourque.

Interesting only if they believe he can stay healthy

Mueller was such a promising prospect at one time too. That's sad to see.

Injury prone, and probably won't ever be the same player again (hope I'm wrong) but I'd take him on a 1 year deal for really cheap and let him prove his worth. Honestly though, I have feeling he ends up in Toronto. Just a feeling...

And no thanks on Gaustad. He will likely get wayyyy more money than he's actually worth.

I know we have no need for him, but is MA Gragnani that much of a bust already?

Why get gragnani when we already have to trade one of (if not two of) diaz, weber, kaberle?

If we move Weber, he could be an insurance policy in case Kaberle, Subban or Markov get injured. Campoli obviously won't be back.

Emelin, Markov, Diaz, Subban, Gorges, Kaberle, Weber.. am I missing someone?

Would Gragnani be willing to sign a 2 way?

He's not a suitable replacement for Markov or PK.
I rather have Weber anyways.

I think/hope Bergevin is going to try and make a huge splash, and really cement his image on the team right away.

I like this. That's the list so far. I think it was a bit of trend that started to emerge, though most pronounced at the end of the CBA: unqualified RFAs who can play in the NHL. It seems that the pressure of re-signing RFAs over-boosted their salary, and with the cap, some just became unaffordable. Again, it's not that they aren't NHLers, just not NHLers at the money + qualifying premium. It's a salary correction more than it is a banishment from the NHL, at least for some players.

I like it for the Habs because it should mean that there will be a bargain bin of players to rummage through. I don't see them as a contender this year. For that reason, I don't see them in a position to go out and land the "missing piece". They do have a lot of good pieces, along with some other not so good but immoveable pieces, and so being able to fill out the roster with some low-risk gambles for a year could be perfect while they transition and let the next wave of Hamilton prospects emerge.

From that list, I have to admit that I do like the prospect of a healthy Latendresse.

So far he tried to get Staal but the asking price was too much.
