Hate it for the Stars. If Faksa is there, we'll take him with no regrets at all, not Gaunce.

And there are better defensemen in the 2nd than Pokka. I'd be fine with Shore there, too.

Love that for the Ducks, but I can't imagine a scenario where the Islanders (or any team for that matter) would take a flyer on Dumba when Murray is still on the board. It's possible (perhaps even likely) that one of the top 5 players falls or that someone in the top 5 has a player that we would consider 'off the board' rated really highly, but I don't see how Murray could potentially fall into our laps.

I think once you got to know Gaunce and as he develops, Stars fans would have no regrets. I could see it being a flip-flop between the Flames & Stars picks though.

I hear ya, Adam. Stranger things have happened though. No one saw Cam Fowler dropping to the Ducks couple yrs back - all the way to 12th. When the Isles involved, anything possible.

This I agree with. However, I think the islanders would take someone like teravainen before they would take Dumba.

IMO either Dumba goes high or will slide because his size leads to him leaving his feet to make hits and that will not fly in the NHL. I love his ability and offensive hockey sense for a defender but just think his defense is suspect.

Furthermore, the Islanders have not really gone off the board since the Bailey pick.
Tavares- Consensus #1
Nino- Rised after a brilliant tourny and was rated about where the Islanders selected him.
Strome- Another bit of a late riser but had a very worthy season in his draft year, trained with Tavares and was rated about where he went.

The only players the Islanders passed on ended up sliding a little bit past their pick Gormley, Fowler, couturier and Hamilton most namely fell further than people thought to begin with. Thus, it is not like the islanders were being plucky or unpredictable.

From everything I hear Murray or reinhart are the most likely pick unless someone like Galchenyuk falls. Grigs is also a very reall possibility.

Can't see the Bruins not taking Skjei or Finn (with no trades) or moving up to nab Koekoek

I know that's true, I just don't see it happening. I suppose that I could see Dumba as being the first defenseman taken provided that one of the scouts falls in love with him and they decide that they want his high ceiling vs Murray's safety. I guess we'll find out on Friday. I would love it if one of those top 5 guys fell past TO though.

If the Rangers were to come away with Laughton and Hart with their first two picks, to say I'd be thrilled would be an understatement.

Good effort, although I don't see there being any chance the Habs draft Grigs at #3.
They may trade down and select him at 5 or whatever (although I believe they'd opt for TT at that point), but not at 3.

Don't believe the hype that Grigs value dropping. Still a supreme talent. If he does drop, teams will have Couturier like regrets.

All very true - Murray & Reinhart probably are the highest probabilities if one were a beting man.

As expected, Mock Draft went off the rails faster than Ben Johnson (drafted by JJD, not the juiced up former fastest human) can do a lap around the rink, but helluva lot of fun to compile.

Amazingly, got some right even in the second round!

Thanks to all for comments and critique!

Montreal grabbing 4 players rates in your top 25. I guess they must be the winners of the draft in your books, right?
