The head honchos of Newport Sports. Very powerful agents who just happen to be Schultz's agents.

Why do leaf fans have to relocate to Ontario when almost outnumber the opposing fans even when they are playing away from home, specially when they are playing in Edmonton, Calgary or Ottawa

Well said. I'm a born and bred Torontonian. There are a lot of great places to live in Canada.

fatal flaw to this theory. Only one team can win the cup and that other 29 are LOSERS and not successful.

Seriously, he just started talking today. I think I read where he may decide by Wednesday. I'd take it all with a grain of salt.
The Oilers development camp starts on Wednesday. He probably wants to make a decision in time to make it

Edmonton is a great opportunity.

He can play with forwards like Hall, RNH, Eberle, Hemsky and Yakupov.
He also can play on any of the 3 pairings and will get prime PP time.
Young core he can grow with, also the coaches in Edmonton let rookies play through their mistakes.
He probably won't make the playoffs this year but he might join a potential dynasty.

Vancouver is good opportunity.

Prime offensive zone starts with the Sedin line and Edler as his partner.
Downside is if he doesn't perform defensively he may be used as a specialist.
His family are also huge Canucks fans and I think he is too.
This spring he could possible be parading down Robson with the cup, dream come true?

He should go to a team that has proven track record of developing young dman/players. That team should have a top 4/6 opening ready. A coach/system that employs transitional offensive system is also big .

Teams that employ a defensive system that don't put importance on attack/offensive system of play I would not go to if I was his agent.

We had room for Schultz even with MAG, and Rome. The fact MAG and Rome were let go, I think was to send a message to Schultz that we have a top 4 spot open for him, and there isn't as much competition here in Vancouver as there was earlier.

Hamhuis
Bieksa
Edler
Tanev
Ballard
Alberts
Salo (If he re-signs)

I can easily see Alberts being shipped off or buried somewhere too. Salo could easily just not be re-signed, and retire. Say that happens, then we only have 5 defensemen, with a top 4 spot open. You'd have to think it's a easy decision where to sign now. Even if Salo/Alberts stay (one would have to go IMO, looking at AA) then it's still almost an easy decision.

It's going to be hard-pressed to build a dynasty anymore in a cap world. I can almost guarnatee Schultz would get lots of PP time in Vancouver too. It's a player like Schultz we've missed for a season since Ehrhoff left to make plays with the Sedins.

Schultz is a RD, that's his current competition.

Looking at that we have a glaring hole for an offensive d-man who can play with Edler + Sedins.

Also an open slot on PP1 (with Sedins and Kesler).

I'm going to say the leafs, just because they seem to have a fairly good track record luring NCAA and Euro free agents.

To answer your question, yes Ontario has jobs, 3x as many as B.C. Their GDP is also over 3 times higher or 421,488 million more.
Apparently, you think Western Canada only includes British Columbia and not Alberta and Saskatchewan as well.

Can we add the rest of Eastern Canada to Ontario then, or is this another Ontario vs Canada deal?

Only problem is would he be the best option there? I mean he is a rookie and we don't even know how is he going to play and already giving him top 4 + #1 PP minutes on a stanley cup contender no less.

In terms of playing time Edmonton is the best bet, he can learn from mistakes and still be guaranteed top 4 , 1 PP time.

Leafs are in between, although they could probably risk a little more putting an unproven rookie then Vancouver but still kinda risky.

The guy isn't exactly fresh out of the draft. He'll be 22 in October, albeit with no NHL experience.
