Is the team's "Lidstrom Cap" gone?

When Lidstrom was here, the team had a rule that no player was paid more than Lidstrom. Is that rule still in effect but now applied to Datsyuk and Zetterberg? Because it's probably going to take $7.5-$8 million a year to land Parise and and Suter each.

It is probably gone considering where the cap went since those deals. Datsyuk's cap hit was a bigger chunk of the salary cap than what those figures would be now. The interesting thing will be do the Wings give Pavel that kind of money at 35 to right that situation.

If i'm not mistaken, Lidström did not have the highest salary at the last season(s).

I don't think it was a rule so much as some savvy negotiating with Hossa's agent.

It won't be so bad when Ericsson gets his lifetime deal at $9 million a year.

Damn, he looks too perty with those Fabian glasses. Come on, E. You need to look like a badass, not a party boy.

Correct. He was paid less than both Zetterberg and Datsyuk.
