That still leaves Tierney pretty far down, hopefully he gets traded.
The Knights will actually most likely lose the majority of their star forwards, with Namestnikov, Knight, McKegg, and Watson moving on.

Max Domi will likely be the team's top center, but Tierney will battle it out with Ryan Rupert for the 2nd line role. He should also see powerplay time finally.

San Jose Sharks—A-minus

Tomas Hertl, selected at No. 17, had 25 points in 38 games playing against men in the Czech league with Slavia Prague this season after dominating against players his own age the previous two years. With a system that is not particularly deep, San Jose could have benefitted from a trade to add more picks, but there’s little fault to be found with the six players the Sharks did select.

Can Hertl play in WJC next year again?

I'd link it, but it's an insider article.

He'll be 19 in December, so he's eligible for the next tournament.

EDIT: and I hope to have a consolidated draft recap/info thread in a couple days. I'm in the process of info gathering right now, though it'll be hijacked tomorrow as I take time to do some yardwork before it starts raining again.

.
Burnside predicted the Kings would crash and burn after hiring Sutter. Called it a serious lack of judgement and barrated the organization for it. He also basically wrote that Sutter and Murray were the same person and basically implied that the move was some huge insult to Murray. To me at least that showed he doesn't understand coaching at all. His credibility had to have taken a serious hit after that.

FriedgeHNIC 10:02am via Web @Aportzline story about NYI offering CLB all of its picks for Murray (link -- http://t.co/qvPDkp65) is true. Working on blog, but...

Yep. GM Snow offered ALL their 2012 draft picks to select Murray @ #2.

It's probably been noted by now, but at the draft combine Hertl tied for the highest score on the Vo2Max test. I don't have old numbers, but it obviously wasn't freakish Duncan Keith level good or they'd have talked about it, but tying for top spot is always a positive sign.

In my book, no.

He's arguably the best D in the draft, but there are 18 skaters on the bench/ice, not just one player.

Just goes to show the ineptitude (my opinion) of the NYI front office.

And he's only 18. D usually aren't mature/major impact players until 23+.

USA Today's Allen ranks top 15 teams from draft (Sharks not included).

He is better than the tv analysts are letting on IMO. I could see him as a 30 pt #2 (or #1) defenseman in the NHL.

The problem is that no matter how "nhl ready" or how much of a sure thing a prospect seems like at the draft, they aren't. Even the best prospects can become busts, and offering an entire draft of players will probably give the other team 2-3 quality NHL players making it a ridiculously lopsided trade. NY probably drafted a player better than Murray and nobody realises it yet until 3-4 yrs from now.

Maybe CBJ was just afraid they'd screw up their drafting again lol. For instance, if you knew you were about to fire all your scouts because they suck, would you still make that trade knowing your scouts suck?

thats crazy. it seems like teams should focus more on development than potential. obviously you draft the BPA, and sometimes there is a special talent in the top 10, but otherwise you should have a farm system that ensures you know how your draft selection is being molded. since the whole thing is a gamble anyway, trading a lot of picks for one pick seems like probability would favor against you in terms of nhl impact over the next 5 years.
