It's a lot more likely that it's the OTHER team that is waiting to see what they can get in free agency, and if they whiff they are considering Hjalmarsson as a plan B.

With Lindback gone, and the canucks looking to move one of their keepers (and its not looking like one is coming to chicago) i'd say bernier is the last potential starter locked in a backup position out there right now.
Sharp will be the first piece of the core to go.

I like Paajarvi too, but he's very hit or miss. He would learn a ton from Hossa, but is he the 2010 player with promise, or is he the 2011 player who has as much bad luck as Kulemin (who I'd much prefer to buy low on as he is very physical and can skate just as well, Russian be damned) and Frolik?

So...no one from our core is moving?

Sharp just signed an extension. He wears an "A" and he's a 70 point player making under $6 million.

...he's not going anywhere

I'd like to think the Hawks have a little more loyalty than Philly.

MPS needs a change. He really does. I like him and he would be a fit for us going forward

Not a fan of MPS. He has the tools to be much better than he is... and we already have a problem with player phoning it in.

Exactly. Everytime I've seen Paajarvi, I just haven't been impressed. He's been lauded as a good two-way player, but an instance that stands out in watching him was a game in Edmonton during his rookie year where Khabi stopped a guy on a breakaway, MPS was trailing the guy and then, instead of coming back to "the house", he went into the corner and started to turn back up ice, as if they were on a breakout.. the team EDM was playing got another scoring chance off the same play but Khabi was there to bail them out.

Moving Hammer for MPS would be a gigantic mistake.

MPS is young and needs more time. He would get that time in Chicago and I would want a 3rd or AHL/depth DMen added

Yes, but then he'll transition to be our next head coach, so he'll still be part of our core.

.... in all seriousness though, I do see a coaching future for Hossa when he retires. Just pointing out that it's ridiculous to think that the Hawks would trade Sharp any time soon given how great he's been for us.

Yeah, I caught your drift.

I see Hossa becoming a scout post-hockey career.. maybe head back to Slovakia and help with the developement of young hockey players there too.

Post Draft Trade Speculation

Forget Edmonton. How about Kane for Bobby Ryan and the draft right to the holdout D man???? And, how about Hjallmarsson to FLA for the rights to Garrison?

Anaheim doesn't have Schultz's rights anymore and giving up a signed, top-4 Dman for the rights to a UFA Dman who'll be looking for 5M+ would be beyond stupid.

Schultz is a UFA ,, Ducks no longer have any rights to him

And trading a signed dman like Hammer for rights to a UFA who wants 5M+ is terrible idea

Garrison has 1 good year in NHL (Not even that great of a year) and is looking for Wisniewski payday as UFA

No thanks

No. And there are still the same problems with this proposal as there were when you posted the exact same thing 5 minutes earlier.

Gagner gets 8 pts against us and embarrases our lazy highly paid "stars" ;Kane takes 10 games to get 8 pts of which 6 are assists and only 2 are goals --the 6a are in 5/6
1assist and out games /pack it in /I've done enough work for themight to earm my $6.3 million ...two games of the 10 he scores 1 goal and out...NEITHER is consistently IMPACTFUL enough...they also do not do much of anything else like--win faceoffs, hit, defend well...

we need physical player - a 2nd line C or a physical D

MPS doesn't solve any of those problems

trading Hjlamarsson likely won't bring back a D - as we will probably trade him to someone looking for D

so the only trade i'd accept would be for a 2nd line C - period

Well, to be fair to him, he wasn't wrong at all in that post.
