I know Cole Schneider played for Binghamton at the end of last season, but he isn't signed to a contract right now, is he? If he is, I will remove him from the main list.
Schneider signed a two year contract with the Sens in mid-March 2012.

He's a tough Belarussian kid. From what I've heard he may have NHL potential if he works on his speed and skating ability. Good choice to bring him to camp rather than drafting him.

Well looking at his stats and where he plays i dont see anything impressive or worth calling up to the camp.
There are many reasons teams invite free agent players to the summer camps, develop relations, exposure for players, in some cases favor to someone. This isn't the first time the Isles have had a Japanese prospect at camp. link and link

I believe they had a Japanese guy over a year or two ago too, but someone else needs to confirm that or if that was in the Isles proper camp.
