Mike Richards and Jeff Carter will NEVER get a letter, I can guarantee it. Both have publicly said they don't want one.
Nice try Sparky, but Richards never said that. He was barely a King, lastJuly, when some idiot reporter asked him if he wanted to be Captain What was supposedto say, 'yes, I intend to rip the C off Brown's chest? He gave the correct answer , for a new player on a team with an established , lettered group of leaders. He said it coming to a new team, it would be nice to play without that pressure.
He'll get an A and it might be as soon as next year,he's already a leader and respected by the team and enjoys that role.

He said it at the trade deadline. When asked about Brown possibly being traded, he said it made him sick to think about it and he knows how awful it feels. He also stated he would never want the C especially if Brown left. He then went on to say how great of a captain Brown is and how he is a quiet leader. I didn't take what he said upon arrival seriously. I still would be shocked if Mike gets a letter. Not every leader needs one. Rob Scuderi and Willie Mitchell are essential leaders without one.

It will go to one of Letang, Orpik, or Suter/Parise if they sign. We are currently debating this third A on our own board. Some people say Orpik, others Letang.
Letang is the answer, although Neal should get some respect when he drops the gloves.

Detroit:

C - Zetterberg
A - Datsyuk
A - Kronwall

No more rotations for the "A".

Is there a specific reason why some teams rotate home and away A's?

Just curious

Yeah I sense he will get a permanent A this season. I think down the road Landeskog and O'Reilly will factor into these too(once Milan retires and/or if Stastny is traded).

Jack Johnson, RJU, Prospal..........my hunch is the C rotates between the 3.

For Colorado I think it will be

C - Hejduk
A - Stastny
A - Rotated between Johnson and McLeod or just permanently given to Johnson.

Rangers will be exactly the same as last year. Callahan, Richards, and Staal; Girardi the 3rd A if there's an injury.

New York Islanders

"C" - Streit
"A" - Tavares (home)
"A" - Visnovsky (home)
"A" - Okposo (away)
"A" - Nielsen (away)

at least those are my guesses

I thought Schenn had an A for a few games with the Leafs.

I could see him in the mix for an A with the Flyers if someone gets hurt.

I imagine the other A will likely go to Ehrhoff. Ruff likes a D-man wearing a letter (McKee, Numminen, Lydman, and Rivet all had letters at one point), which is what made last year odd in that it was all forwards. I could see Myers with an outside shot at a letter.

It's only a matter of time though before Girgensons will be wearing one.

I never realized how many teams have different home and away A's. IMO, thats just silly.

either Orpik gets an "A" full time, or he splits it with either Parise or Suter if they get one of them.

C - Sidney Crosby
A - Evgeni Malkin
A - Last season Staal had the other "A" at home while Orpik had the "A" during road games. With Staal gone, I assume either Orpik will take the "A" full time or split it with Letang.

Edit - Neal also seems to be making a case for the "A," but I think he needs a couple more years under his belt.

For the Jackets...

Prospal will keep his A under any and all circumstances short of the end of the world.

Nash, if he stays, could very well end up keeping his C - although this scenario would make the CBJ boards completely unbearable.

JMFJ is the favorite to get the C if/when Nash is traded. Umberger would definitely keep his A in that scenario, and might keep it regardless.

Other darkhorse A candidates include the Dereks - Derek MacKenzie and Derek Dorsett - and Wisniewski.

I hope Johnson gets the C and Vinny and Wiz get As.

I suppose Umberger gets an A, but he hasn't earned one after this season, IMO.

I still think the second 'A' will be rotated, this time among Johnson, McLeod, and Landeskog (to see how he handles leadership at the NHL-level).

The only team I can see needing to change is the Devils...if it were me: Kovalchuk, C, Elias A, and Volchenkov A.

The Islanders should have only 2 alternates next season: JT and Okposo, with Frans Nielsen as the first fill-in.

Someone mentioned Mike Richards earlier; I can't see him getting a letter next season as a regular; however, I could see him as the first fill-in.

As for Florida---just give the "C" to Stephen Weiss already!
