I'll wait until McKenzie or Dreger confirms.

Worst move ever by Sherman. This guy is a ****ing horrible defenseman who doesn't belong in the NHL. What a stupid move by Sherman. I understood the Mueller move but this makes no sense at all. SOB truly is the worst defenseman in the NHL.

He actually played very well for the Avs a large chunk of the season. Unfortunately when he had bad games they were absolutely atrocious and cost the Avs games.

If he can play within his limits than he will be a serviceable defensemen and a good leadership guy for the Avs. However, if he starts thinking that he is Shane Orr'Brien again...well, at least we'll get Seth Jones to help out the D.

He's decent. Good team guy and suitable bottom pairing d-man.

I'm sure I'll be one of the few Avs fans, but I'm thrilled with this signing. I'm a huge fan of O'Brien.

Why all the hate? Suter will make him look like a top-4 D.

Character guy. Funny. But not ultra-reliable in tough situations on the ice.

Another 'cap floor' move. Cheers.

Okay signing. He's a decent hockey player and can occasionally log big minutes but can sometimes go into Neanderthal mode.

Keep on rocking, Shane!

What a terrible deal for Shane O'Brien.

If they really wanted to reach the cap floor that badly, Scott Gomez is available.

It's only 2 million a year. Not that much in today's NHL...

I don't like Orr'Brien, but at least 2.0mil isn't terrible.

Terrible. That's just terrible. Three more years of Shane O'Brien. This off-season is giving me nightmares.

I think the year playing with Nashville, and constantly being on the move prior to that, has led him to become a much more mature person. If you watch videos from the Avs last year about SOB, everyone mentions how he has taken a real leadership role in the locker room.

I thought he did fine most of the year when he plays his role, our problem is he was forced to play top 2 sometimes top 4 minutes.

That isn't Shane's fault. I'm glad he's back.

I wish fans from other teams would actually watch and judge from what they see rather than what they see on HF. Everyone is tough on the Avs moves, but it isn't taking them 6-7 years to rebuild like some teams....they even made the PO's in their rebuild.

Lack of knowledge really shows around these parts. Be critical of the Avs, they're making strides towards getting better, while many teams get worst and settle for mediocrity season after season after season.

Not really, we wouldn't have liked it at $3M per season but this is a good deal.

Yeah he really did. After the Avs traded Quincey, they moved him up to the top pairing with EJ and he couldn't keep up his level of play, tried to do too much and started getting exposed, big time.

As a #4-6 d-man, he's great to have a round, very happy with this signing.

As long as the Avs still go out and get a guy like Carle, I'm happy.

As a bottom pairing guy, he's fine. Anything more than that and he does too much.

They desperately need to find EJ a partner.
