Excuse my cynicism but does this mean Jason Demers is officially trade bait? I know we need depth but I'm pretty sure Boyle and Burns have 2 of those RD spots locked down...
This is what I expect to be the case.
Demers' name was mentioned in Nash talks previously as well so would not be surprised if he is traded in part of a package like Clowe+ or Pavs+.

Doubt it. I think they are looking at having Demers/Braun step into the 2nd pairing when Boyle leaves/retires/falls dead on the ice from playin 30 min a night. They also just have that much value right now. I guess if they have confidence that Braun can play top 4 in the next few years and one of the Kids can fill in the third pairing, then they might look at trading Demers.
Braun-Demers is a great young cheap bottom pair to go into the season with. I'd be very upset if we traded Jason unless he's a piece of a big deal for a young player that we need.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. Though personally I would have traded Braun if it was choosing between the two. Demers has a higher upside .. plus his value is low after last season.
What makes you think Demers has a higher upside? It seems to me Braun is the better pick of the two since he is a better skater and has a better shot while being equal to Demers defensively.
Very happy about the Braun signing, and I think Wingels is a good signing too. I really do wish I could have seen McGinn and Wingels play more together though. Those two are mirror images of each other and would have been a pain to play against with their work ethic.

More offensive potential. He is also a year younger than Braun.
A lot others here have also felt that Demers is more like a Boyle-lite.
Now I'd like to see the money on Desy and Braun. I'm gonna guess $1.75M per for Braun, and the same deal as Wingels for Desy.
This sounds right to me. It's like inflation since Demers contract (now valued at 1.5m/) plus an extra 750K for the extra year. But with the age difference, who knows?
