Spoke with Lamoriello. Says Oates a great hire for Wash. Says Larry Robinson unsure of his future at this point. Status quo on Parise.

Next assistant coach in Montreal?

Best guy for the team, but most importantly, our young and upcomming D Core. Can show them what it takes to win.

He's considering retirement, not Montreal.

Unlikely IMO, but I'd be ecstatic to bring him in.

Why would a guy of Robinson's stature - this guy's won a SC as a head coach remember - assist a turkey like Therrien?

Can't see it happening.

With rumors of bankruptcy around, who the heck can be sure of his future with this organisation?

Assistant coach Adam Oates was named head coach of the Washington Capitals today and assistant coach Larry Robinson is considering retirement or a return to his past position as special assignment coach.

General manager Lou Lamoriello said Robinson hasn't decided an what he wants to do.

"Not yet. We haven't really spoken to him about it," Lamoriello said. "He's giving thought to what he wants to do. Pete (DeBoer) and Dave Barr are set, but I don't know what Larry's status is and where he's at.

@TGfireandice: Larry Robinson apparently is considering retirement. Lamoriello said he doesn't know yet if he'll be back next season.

He coached new jersey to TWO Stanley Cup finals, ex Hab, speak French, more character than most humans could tolerate, hall of fame defensman, respect of his peers and the league. Any reason why he wouldn't be the best guy for the job other than because he'd be a better coach than Therrien and Therrien wouldn't want to be in Larry's shadow?

What are they waiting for? GO GET HIM!!

Why not give him the best of both worlds, make him some kinda assistant but tell him you only have to work with the D when the team is home for practices. Don't have to travel when they go on the road. Could sorta be like a semi retirement
