If Paul Martin can move the puck up ice in a hurry to our kids, I would take a shot on him provided there aren't better available (key word there being available) options.

We'll likely be able to get him for cheap and the cap term (3 years left) is preferable to probably signing someone to big dollars for 5+ years.

So he goes on waivers and his options are CBJ, EDM, MTL. Like I said the other day, pick your poison Mr.Martin. Come to Edmonton pad your stats and hope you either like it or you become good enough that one day a contender wants you.

First mistake, he's not an elite goalie. He's a good one, but elite goalies tend not to be so emotionally fragile.

Second, he's got an extremely bad and long contract which would create problems for the OIlers going forward.

Third, there's only about 4 things I'd give up from the Oilers to get him, Horcoff, Habby, Omark and Potter

Fourth, he has a No Trade Clause and isn't likely to waive it for Edmonton.

In the end, the "Why aren't the Oilers per pursuing Luongo" because it makes no sense for the team.

I'd be interested in Mike Green. It all depends on the price. His 09-10 season was disgusting.

Scored over a PPG, 100+ hits, 100+ blocked shots, played in all situations too.

Depending on what Washington will ask for, he'd be a guy I'd be heavily interested in.

Also said that if NYR gets Schultz, maybe Michael Del Zotto is of interest to Edmonton.
30 points by Martin generally not sure if Stauff would mean Green like production.

I'm not a fan by no means and really think he was the most overrated UFA last year, but I wonder if Stauffer is talking about the Wiz?

When people are talking about bringing in a Carle, or a Garrison, or a Wideman at ~5M on a term, it boggles my mind how trading for Bouwmeester or Martin has gotten such lukewarm responses.

We've got an abundance of defensemen as is. Through trade, we'd be able to move out unneeded roster players and salary in return for a better defenseman than what is on the market, while not having to pay market value over a 5 year term.

The Prime Minister is better than Carle or Wideman.

He'll cost less too. I've said it 100 times and I'll say it again and if I'm wrong i'll be teh first to admit it...Carle and Wideman are going to get Wisniewski money and term.

The Prime Minister would immediately improve our defense. The PM WITH Schultz and this blueline is legit.

Ray Ferraro disagrees:

Should have done Lindros before Sundin, otherwise it is a good list. I guess being the best Maple Leaf for a decade is more impressive than being a Hart Trophy winning generational talent whose career was cut short by injuries.

I wouldn't have had Sundin first ballet, like the other 3 choices.

Good player but not a first ballot hall of famer, especially given who they left out (Shanahan and Lindros). If he played the majority of his career in any other city he wouldn't be an inductee for awhile.

Interesting that 3 of the 4 never won a Cup. I'm sure a fairly high percentage of people would call that a prerequisite to get into the Hall.

Having watched Neely and Lafontaine in their primes, I have a hard time agreeing with that requirement.

Look, when Dougie Gilmour got in last year, you knew that Sundin was going to get in asap, things are different for players when they play in Toronto.

If Pierre Turgeon had played any significant time in Toronto, people would treat him like an "all-timer"

For one thing Vancouver isn't trading within their division. Secondly, the Oilers don't want that horrendous contract.

I'd love to get him, if the asking price from Washington takes into consideration his recent injury problems. What is Washington looking for?

Only reason Sundin made it was because he played with Toronto.
