I don't know Parenteau. What's his play like? Would he be a reasonable winger for Eller, or he should be considered for Plek?

If Parenteau really wants 4 million +, no freaking thank you.

3 million? Fine with me, I suppose. But I can see other teams giving him more, which would be a huge mistake, IMO.

Apparently Parenteau is a good friend of Desharnais and dreams of playing for the CH. Hometown discount probability?

Around 4 to 4.5m to Parenteau would actually be a good deal. He's a UFA 50+ point player and its unrealistic to hope that we can get anyone of that caliber under 4m. Kostitsyn might get 4+ millions and I'd much rather have Parenteau.

Difference is that Paranteau is 29 years old and has only had 2 good seasons in the NHL. He was also playing alongside Tavares which obviously helped his stats quite a bit.

PA parenteau only for 3 mill, maaaaaybe 3.5 but thats it

try to maybe grab tender

if not, ...figure out a way to turn gomez salary into semin salary for 3 years playing alongside plekanec, ..id def take a look at that

i know what semin gets faulted for , but jesus, if he can pot 35+in MTL, why not

with all this being said, i rly doubt bergervin goes crazy on the free agent market, i think some of our own kids are going to get looks..

He will still get a lot more than 4 mil per year, just watch.

I don't doubt it but I just think it would be an absolutely terrible idea to give him that kind of money. He's far and I mean FAR from proven.

The crop of UFA forwards is weak and teams have money to spend. He will get 5 mil/year or more on a multi year contract.

He actually might be a good option, and probably pretty cheap given he was making $.5M and is all about defense.

I'd really like to get Matt Carle if he's available. I sort of doubt he is though.

Hopefully by another team than us.

However, RDS among others, is already hyping him and shoving him to the management's throat. They look for nothing but to satisfy their politics views on the team. It's sad to see that everytime they talk about the team, the first thing they talk about is the quebecois nationality.

I really hope Bergevin stay away of this UFA crop besides Parise and Suter who are the only players that can change the dynamic of the team.

Honestly I don't like him and there's a rumor that he wants to sign in Denver (he played at the UoD and his wife is from there) and Colorado needs someone to play with Johnson.

I'm not disagreeing. I'd rather pay a bit more for 2-3 years and get Semin, he can be a much more dominant player. Though Parenteau could be a nice asset on the PP as he has slick vision and passing ability, something we lack up front.

Why only go after players that can "change the dynamic of the team"? Free Agency is getting players "free" at least in terms of trading assets to get them. No harm in possibly adding a couple players to fill some holes(top 6 winger top 4 defenseman) plus a few role players or reclamation projects. I'd rather overpay by 500k-1 mil on a UFA than trade our young players or picks...or force young players into role they are not yet ready for.

I find it funny how some are willing to give Price top dollar, but want to dime and nickel PA. The guy's had 2 60+ point seasons...you really think $3 or $3.5M is fair? He deserves $5M+. That's fair value. Would I pay him that? No. But someone probably will.

That's my point, regardless of if people WANT US to sign him, he will get at least 5 mil.

Up front I'd go with 6-6.25 /year to Semin for 2-3 years. Then go after a reclamation project at 1-2.5 mil for Mueller Wolski Fehr or Boyes for the Eller-Bourque line.

Umm price is 24, PA is 29 and only making the NHL now. Comparing Price to PA tells me everything I need to know about you.

I... Uhhhm... agree with you? Except on PA. No team will come close to paying him $5M. No team.

Why in hell would you be ready to give that much for Semin and not willing to pay for Parenteau ? Semin had two horrible seasons, he's known to be a floater and doesn't produce in the playoffs.

I'd take Parenteau way before 2-3 years of Semin.

... and I guess playing along side Ovechkin and Backstrom doesn't inflate his stats the way Tavares does with PAP...
