Saskatoon Blades goalie Andrey Makarov has been invited to attend the Panthers rookie camp next week. The Russian goaltender won a silver medal at the World Juniors this winter and was named as the Blades MVP this season.

This is the kid who came into stop the Canadian onslaught and shut the door right? I know a lot of people are high on him. I'd love to add him to the organization.

If you're talking about the year when Russia won gold; IIRC that was Bobkov, Ducks prospect.

Great way to compensate our lack of picks in the last draft and us not taking a goalie.

Makarov has potential, great potential. He was rated #44 by Red Line and #84 by McKeen's.

His technique and puckhandling is a bit of a mess, but talent and competitive nature is second to none.

Great gamble by our staff, I hope we sign him after a good camp.

Renegade Stylings, what's your scouting report on him and opinions ?

I'm really hoping you guys can sign Makarov.

He is a virtually a clone of Evgeni Nabokov. Upright narrow stance, great glove etc.

He's also a good friend of mine, and here is the article I wrote on him.
