Last I read they were Trying to hash out contract ramifications. He is under contract for three more years. If they simply fire him, I believe he is the due those monies, not exactly a cost saving proposition. I'm sure lawyers are involved so it will take some time. So no news is not necessarily bad news, it's not good news either. It's simply no news, yet.

Well, the CBJ could have offered to pick up his current contract, right?.... I'm guessing even if he somehow ends up here, that likely will not happen.

I hope this wasn't merely a "toe in the water" move. If a deal can't be worked out, this shouldn't be the last we hear of a move to realign the front office.

Think they'll let us have him if we throw in a 2nd rounder?

Could be some kind of a salary sharing arrangement ?

Probably a shock the CBJ ownership, they are probably used to paying their president a buck fiddy an hour.

With the circumstances (Davidson having an "out" clause), I don't suspect this would feasible. If Davidson wants to leave and come to Columbus, St. Louis isn't likely willing to help us out there. I also suspect that if It were simply a "take on his salary" deal, he would have landed somewhere else by now. If Davidson truly wants out, St. Louis has the leverage when it comes to negogiating a "buyout", if thats what it going to take.

So if he's actually interviewed elsewhere (Calgary was rumored to be interested) no one is likely ponying up that much to take him on. The CBA expires in September, I highly doubt any organization is lining up to take on a contract for an executive that still has, what 4 mil left on it?

this(what is it, 3 more years for $6 million) and I think the G.M. is due for a new contract in a year. On top of that, they have Hitchcock as the Head Coach and Al MacInnis in some sort of management, I believe all of those guys are making lots of money. Why now or why hire all those guys then? It's new ownership and it the them who wants to shed some money. I think they want him(his contract) gone so bad that the original rule was just a 30 day window but obviously, they ignored the 30 days and let Davidson/other teams figure things out past the 30 days.

I heard a rumour that they would bring in Brett Hull to fill his role.

They have hired Hull but only for the PR work, not Hockey Ops.
