Oops. I guess Erie was able to convince him to report. Or maybe they can trade him to London (if that's allowed).

yeah they can trade him and the price tag will be high, so its a win-win whether they keep him or move him.

Not if London or Windsor are the only buyers. They will know they have Erie in a jam and Bassin may have to sell lower than expected.

If dansk reports to Erie then great pick if not the gamble taken was plain stupid in my opinion. Why risk getting no one with the 3rd pick. If no one is available trade the pick, I just don't see the point in taking a huge risk in the import draft.

because Erie has nothing to lose. They're not going to be a good team this year but will be in a couple. So why not take Dansk and one of them will pay for him. I think this was smart by Erie. Stack up on draft picks and get a proven player for the future. There is no way that Dansk will report to them

They have everything to lose. Dansk will not go to Erie. And say London is the only team Dansk will go to, Hunter can just say "sorry Sherry" and Erie gets absolutely nothing for the 3rd overall pick. Actually, that's probably the most likely scenario.

They have a lot lose. They have a strong core and now just signed mcdavid. They had the 3rd import pick and may get nothing now if London is the only buyer. They have had numerous draft picks in the past and what have they done with those????

Gambling like this on the import draft is not a wise move. Especially when the player they took may be only willing to report to one team. Why would hunter pay more when he knows he is the only team that can get this player?

you still stop London from manipulating the drafts year in and year out. Gets a little tiresome.

Heard London has been working him out for weeks. They will trade for him. If true, they will have paid a real price to get him when you add the cost of moving up in the draft. Could make them think a little more before next time.

Its the import draft. The players control it, not the teams.

I am hearing reports that Erie and London had a deal for Erie to take dansk to stop Kingston from taking him and trading him to Windsor. Erie will get London's pick and then dansk is sent to London. Hopefully Erie gets more than just the D-man becuase otherwise they just helped London and hurt themselves.

Hearing similar things. I get more respect for hunter all the time. He set a target and wanted to be certain he hit is mark, I'm hoping.

According to loosepucks twitter Dave Brown said Dansk will not be traded.

I don't know what to think at this point.

The long wait could also mean there were negotiations but no deal? Clearly tiger you are obviously in the know here. We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Made a call. Similar to Langestog situation in Plymouth a few years ago. Well see how it plays out, but good on Erie, if they pull this off i top my hat to them.

I would've liked to see Valeri Nichushkin in the CHL but unfortunately he signed a three year KHL contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk.

What is the situation with the trade window? I read on here trades can not happen after 5 today, if that is the case when does it open again?

"Been a really exciting week, honored and excited to be drafted by @ErieOtters ! Thanks for all the tweets back, appreciate them a lot"

From Dansk's twitter account, I am not sure if it is really relevant at all but he seems to have accepted Erie drafted him.

It is looking good that Dansk will report for those of you saying there is no chance he comes to Erie.

Article from todays paper http://www.goerie.com/article/201206...playing-to-win

"But Brown and Sherry Bassin, managing partner and general manager, spoke Wednesday with Peter Wallen, Dansk's Swedish-based agent.

Bassin has spoken with the Blue Jackets' Scott Howson, GM and executive vice president of hockey operations, and Paul Castron, Director of Amateur Scouting.

"At this point, everything is good," Brown said. "I'm pretty confident (Dansk) will be an Erie Otter."

Also they plan on having KHL first round pick Kuleshov in training camp as well.

Good for Erie then. It's good for the OHL to continue to get the best junior players playing here.

Ya it is because that's what makes the league so great.
If dansk and kuleshov report this team could be one to watch out for. The strong young core with the 2 high profile imports plus adding mcdavid this off season. Erie has had a great draft picks thus far.

What if the CHL decided to allow 3 Euro Imports per team? What are your thoughts?

It would definately add to the overall skill level of the league but would favor the better teams more so than it already does beacuse its much more pre-arranged deals than it is a draft. Teams such as London and Kitchener would most likely get another player to add of high caliber talent, but maybe on the flipside it could encouraged teams to take a risk to prevent that, for example the Soo and Tolchinsky.
