So, I was thinking (nice, huh?) that 'cause Toronto is in need of a top 6 forward, Dubinsky would be a perfect player to target, a Burke-like player.
My suggestion is:
Dubinsky
MacArthur, 2nd and Gunnarsson
Not sure, if Rangers would need Gunnarsson, but I think that's a fair deal. MacArthur would IMO fit Rangers top-6, who can play a bottom 6 role too, if needed. A good playmaking type of a player, who can put up ~60 points, maybe 70 points if he hits a career year, but I think it's a reach.
This is refreshing. Usually my fellow Rangers fans are the ones inflating Dubi's value. I like Dubi a lot more than most NYR fans and I would do this in a heartbeat.
With that being said, I have no clue why Toronto would offer more than MacArthur/2nd or Gunnarson/2nd, let alone Gunnarson, MacArthur AND a 2nd unless the combo is to alleve some cap strain. In that case, the 2nd is not needed.
I like Dubi, but hate his contract. Pass.
Also I'm not so sure we need a top 6 forward anymore. In addition to Kessel, Lupul and JVR we have MacArthur who is coming of back to back 20 goal seasons and Kule who is 1 year removed from a 30 goal season.
We badly need a #1 center but Dubi isn't one of those.
Value is there, but no reason (imo) to move Dubinsky in a sideways deal like this. I'd rather keep the homegrown player who we know can fit in our system, even if the value is there. Pass.
So who has more value right now? Stewart at 3 mil for the season than still RFA? Or Dubi at 3 years 4.2 mil? The most Leafs fans seemed to want to give up for Stewart was Gunnarson and a 3rd. Would Dubinsky really garner more than Stewart? I know I'm a blues fan, but it seems like Stewart has more upside...

The issue here is whether Dubinsky is more valuable as part of a package than the return from Toronto.
I just think chances are Dubinsky goes with other players, prospects and picks for a big named forward. I only see the 2nd has helping out a potential deal in any major way.
As bad as last year was, Dubinsky is still worth quite a bit. Size, strength, heart, PP, PK and the fact that he plays wing but also takes faceoffs, make him worth something. I realize his contract is the killer, but a 20, 25 goal season would quickly change people's minds.

Dubinsky replaces Grabovski going forwards on the second line. Grabo becomes part of our tradebait for a 1C.

I think Stewie has more upside but Dubi is a more effective player.
When Stewart isnt at the top of his game he doesn't do much to help a team, when Dubi isn't at the top of his game he is still one of the best shot blockers and penalty killers in the league.
No thanks. Gunnarrson is uselss for the Rangers and it's not worth trading Dubinsky, a 2-way beast for MacArthur.
Bergeron is a 2-way beast. Datsyuk is a 2-way beast. Kesler is a 2-way beast. Dubinsky is a solid 2nd/3rd liner depending on the day. In no way is his play "beastly" unless you're a Gatorade cooler.
