Far from newsbreaking, but, good possibility the Capitals trade Alex Semin's rights.
Where do you think he ends up? Detroit? Nashville? Long Island?

Expect Semins rights to be traded

He didn't come out and SAY they'd be dealt but he did say he expects it. So where do you think Semin will go?

SJ?, NYR?, Pens? PHI? I think most of the tems that are in on nash may look at semin if the caps deal his rights because he's a top line forward and they won't have to sell the farm to get him.

I'd like to see him paired with sid or Malkin.

With a NTC. And trade Bouwmeester for him.

I'd be very happy if he ends up in Detroit.

Not sure what the Wings will do with this info. Will they take the risk and wait for Parise to hit the market or attempt to get Semin's rights and settle for a winger who is probably slightly less talented than Zach Parise who has a lot less baggage.

I really like what McPhee had done this summer in allowing his ufa's to negotiate early and then trade them to the team they choose. Smart management and I'm sure the players appreciate the leg up on the competition.

Caps should have thought about this before. Like maybe at the trade deadline, perhaps?

Anaheim trade for Semin's rights and signs him followed by a trade of Bobby Ryan.

I have a feeling Detroit scoops up his rights and signs him, but I really hope Snow jumps all over this and trades for his rights and try to sign him. With Parenteau good as gone, we need someone to play with Tavares.

Meh, I don't really buy this. I really think Parise is getting over-hyped. They are the same age, and we need a right-handed scoring winger. Give me a locked-in Semin over a July 1 shot at Parise. Also, if the cap stays where it is, we can sign both and Suter, so take the bird in hand first.

Parise's last 5 seasons (excluding his 13 game 2010-11), he's averaged 35 goals and 74 points.

Semin's last 5 seasons, he's averaged 30 goals and 63 points.

Not commenting on the signed Semin vs. only a shot at Parise scenario, but there's a comparison of the two players.

Less talented? Have you ever seen Semin play?

Ok, Parise is definitely more committed to every shift and so on. But on talent alone, i see very few players in the NHL, who are better on offense alone than Semin (Malkin, o.k., but even Crosbys' - or Parises' - qualities are their all around strength).

Wouldn't be surprised if the Pens make a move for his rights, but I hope Stan Blowman also tries to get them too.

hence the "slightly" part. It doesnt matter if you are 1000x more talented if you dont work hard too. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesnt work hard."
