Thats funny, considering the Devils were "supposedly" in worse financial shape when they added salary during the season compared to the shape they are currently in.

Franzen + Filppula + Jurco + Ouellet? I think that helps now and really could help in the future. Wings probably still need to add at least picks and the Devils would need to take a lifetime contract back. I seriously doubt he is even available but the Wings should be all over it if he is.
I'm pretty sure they would ask for Smith.

I also forgot but if anyone thinks that Parise is better than Kovalchuk that's an absolute joke. Kovalchuk has outplayed Parise the entire time as a Devil and the playoffs is the #1 proof that Kovy>>>>>>>>>>>>Parise any day of the week. Kovalchuk completely injured played much better than Parise on a contract year.

1 for 1 maybe, I think NJ would have to add though?

Realisticly there is nothing on Detroit that could really get Lou to think about trading him to us. The only way is if he likes a couple of our guys and is willing to take less back to trade him out of conference. I would have LOVED to have signed him back when he is FA & I'm quite jealous of NJ right now.

I know I just can't bring myself to type his name into a trade lol. It's so impossible to guess what he would command in a trade anyways.

This thread is funny because of all the people whining about Eklund Some of you guys are so pathetic with the way you respond to Eklund rumors.

What an embarrassment Pecklund is. Keep throwing those darts at the board clown boy. Maybe, just maybe, one day you'll hit on something.

When you type in his name on HF it should come out *******.

except that the financial issues were reported BEFORE then, and are supposedly close to being resolved now, so your argument has absolutely no merit.

If they value Parise more than Kovalchuk, which they should, and they don't think they can afford to keep both then one could see why they would consider trading Kovalchuk. Even though it's a huge contract, a long-term signed Kovalchuk who appears to be getting his game back would be attractive to many teams.

Don't be surprised if this particular scoop sticks to the wall for Eklund.
There is absolutely no reason to believe he has done anything but speculated correctly at an extremely low percentage. To look back and say he was right about something does not indicate that he's capable of scooping anything. He's a joke.

A Semin-Datsyuk-Kovalchuk like would be SICK.
You would need at least two pucks in the game for that line, because only one of them knows how to play without it.

How does Eklund even have his own special sub-heading on here?

Anyway, is the Brodeur-Semin trade still gonna go down?

Because then we would have to look at his dreadfully ugly face every time we have a thread about a rumor of his. Besides, he's already a joke.

Dare i say a package involving luongo for kovalchuk? That way you won't have to go without an elite goaltender.

I'm on my cell but I'd usually put in an emoticon that looks like a smiley hushing.

+1

The Isles would quite literally be the least likely team in the NHL to trade for Kovy if he were available (he's not.)

Can someone explain to me how signing Parise and trading Kovalchuk makes the team a better buy?

I don't get it mods? Was there something wrong with my why hasn't this been closed comment? That Eklund is a "credible" source here is an absolute joke to begin with, but why in gods name would the Devils trade the player they signed to a lifelong contract and was their leading scorer in their run to the Final? Seriously...you should delete the thread, not my comment.

This just makes no sense in any aspect of logical thinking.

If they sign Parise and it's leaked that Kovalchuk is on the market, teams will automatically smell blood in the water and try to push Lou's back against the wall. The Devils will be forced to deal Kovalchuk for less than market value.

Why would an organization that's supposedly having financial troubles make a set of moves that would put their back against the wall even more?
