No way he deserves to be the highest paid blueliner on the Canucks. Pass.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he changed his 5x5 demand to 6x6 after he heard what Wideman got..

We've seen what guys like Leino have gotten in free agency. Garrison is the 2nd best D-man to hit free agency. It will probably get ugly...
Well, I guess my offer doesn't really look that crazy after all... Probably a major low ball...

If he want's Wideman money, on a short term with no NTC I'd be happy with. If he truly wants to play for us, he's taking a hometown discount. A limited NTC and 4.5 is the most I'd go, but being that it was one tremendous season and a few others of reasonable-to-good hockey, I'd want that a little lower too. EDIT: On a multi year deal I mean (like 4+).

Garrison is going to cash in. He's not taking a hometown discount. He's a free agent coming off a career year. Edmonton, St. Louis, Detroit, and the Rangers make a lot of sense.

Keep in mind Wideman has a lot more consistency over his career. Multiple 30+ points seasons and had a 50 point + his 46 points last year. This is a clear difference between Garrison who has had 1 33 point season and 18 point.

Honestly...do you think the assets of the other guy come into the mind of an athlete/agent negotiating a new contract? I mean Garrison seems legit about wanting to play here, but his camp won't be the one bringin up Wideman's year to year consistency. Besides, Garrison isn't a strict PMD through out his career, is he?

Garrison is going to sign in Vancouver once Van realizes they aren't getting Schultz

Garrison sign with whatever team gives him the most money. If the Canucks and another team offer the same amount, then yeah, the Canucks.

Garrison will not bring up these facts, but you can be sure Gillis will.

Keep in mind Wideman has 535 regular season and 44 playoff games under his belt.

Garrison 190 regular season games and 4 playoff games.

There is a huge difference in experience. While overpaid, Wideman is a much more know commodity.

I like Garrison but he is a bit of a unknown commodity yet. And that unknown SHOULD knock down the salary some. I say should knowing some team will likely offer him something stupid.

If he wants to come to Van he will have to respect Hamhuis and Bieksa contracts. My bet would be somewhere in between Ballard(4.2) and Hamhuis(4.5).

unless he takes a discount... someone is going to really overpay him if he gets wideman money or more. I'll pass and save money to re-sign edler.

Garrison isn't on offensive defenseman. He's more of a defensive defenseman who had a possibly fluke-ish year on offense. So people shouldn't evaluate his play based on point totals.

He's an unknown commodity to the fans of other teams, I'm sure the GMs know everything that needs to be known about him.

Overpaid at 5-6 million if he's going to get it, but what can you do with the thin crop of UFA d-men.

After seeing what Wideman got i want no part of him. He's actually a better defenseman then Wideman. He could potentially get 5.5-6million a year for 5-6 years.

Sounds like a good partner for Karlsson, who I'm sure could help him a bit in the points department.

Garrison will take less to sign in Vancouver because it's such a great fit. Just like Dan hamhuis did.

Look for Schultz to also sign with the Canucks.

I expect we'll see Garrison and Schultz play together. They would complement one another very well.

Gillis will do what gillis does better then anybody in the league.

Sign guys to rediculously good contracts.

Sedins burrows hamhuis kesler bieksa.

Garrison is next. Gillis will sign him for around 4m/4.25, on a decent term, and one again get that hometown discount.

You can't forget Suter and Parise will also sign with the Canucks they would all be great fits as well. Then with Suter there Weber will sign there next off season.
