Heh, well, it's the next best thing to doing the right thing, which would've been to trade those players when it became clear that they were unlikely to be back.

So basically, he doesn't the brains & balls to dump a girl he doesn't truly love, but year(s) later he's kind enough to tell her it's over, before her dad writes the check for the wedding. Smart, stand up guy

With the leadership group that the Kings have in place, I wonder if the Kings would now be interested in a player like Semin.

No way they would have went after a player like him one or two years ago. Just wondering with a change in culture seeming to have finally taken root if Lombardi would consider making a play for Semin.

I really think he'd be a great fit in Detroit, I hope they deal for his rights and sign him. A lineup like this would be tonnes of fun to watch:

Semin - Datsyuk - Franzen
Filppula - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi
Nyqvist - Helm - Cleary
Miller - Emmerton - Abdelkader

I'm not so sure they wouldnt trade his rights to the Canes given the history of the GM's actually able to talk, and keep in mind there is a good chance the divisions as they are will no longer be as they are most likely in the future. IF the Canes give the best offer, they get him.

They should do it assuming the asking price isnt ridiculous.

He's going to get top dollar.
He's going to want 6mill or more..

I dont like the fact he brings 0 toughens. Actually..he brings negative toughness lol.
He'd fit in well on a big mean team that doesnt need a Shane Doan type. A team that needs a pure sniper, because they have other big guys protecting him and creating space. Maybe L.A? Philly? Boston?

Yeah, I was thinking Kopitar and Brown would create a ton of space for Semin. Kings can fit $6M under their cap.

Still don't know if Lombardi would bring in a guy with questionable desire. Still if he thought his room could make Semin conform to the rest of the team, it might be worth thinking about.

A typical Oilers proposal. No way do they steal Orlov from the Capitals for Hemsky even though he is signed. Caps would have no interest in Hemsky.

Watching Hemsky and Ribeiro pass to each other on the second line with no one to shoot the puck would get old real fast. Watching Hemsky go on LTIR half way through the season and take away all our pro-rated cap space would get old even faster. The Oilers made their bed giving Hemsky that contract despite his glass shoulders, now they've got to sleep in it.

Are you nuts? Why on earth with the caps give up Orlov for Hemsky? Before he started getting hurt I'd go for it. Not to mention, the caps need a shooter.

Semin for a pick, thats the way its going to be

I heard talk of Edmonton needing a Russian to be a mentor for Yakupov. But Semin would be the opposite of mentor, if anything.

we'll add one of Taylor Chorney, Nick Shultz, Colten Teubert or David Musil.

does all the Semin hate stem from when he slapped Staal silly?

idk, maybe some Caps fans can back me up on this, but to my knowledge, Semin was their best player in the 2nd half of the year. I realize he started out the year real wack, but hes still a great player in this league.
Honestly, I'd love him on the Rangers.
There are far too many ignorant fans that will scan a message board and just spread the "Semin is a lazy, selfish Russian floater" stereotype without ever watching him play. Thankfully GMs arent those people.

If anybody can resurrect him, it's Babcock. He should go to Detroit for his sake.

We have guys on our boards who would name their first-born after you for that, lol.

Seriously, if Wideman's rights are worth a 5th, Semin's are probably worth a 3rd-4th. But really hard to gauge actual NHL interest on this one..
