Parise-Crosby-Semin would be a pretty solid second line. If even half of the rumors regarding players Shero is "interested in" are true it's going to make for one Hell of a Sunday.

Are you playing with the salary cap turned off?

All it takes is for Martin and Kennedy to be moved. This roster would still leave plenty of room if my estimate for Niskanen's salary is off.

good luck with that, real young on the backend, real Cap problem when you have to resign anyone.

That would be classic if Semin went to Pittsburgh. All the vitroil Pens faithful have thrown at him over the years, and all will be forgiven.

Cool story!

Pens have $15 million to spend without moving anyone. They are certainly going to add at least one player of note, likely two. They will not be going into the season more than a couple million under the cap. No clue who those additions will be yet though, nor if it will be through the UFA route or by trade. But you would have to be a fool to think that the Pens will make no moves sitting on that kind of cap space.

I'd rather he go to the rangers and have to play with M. Staal...

You're a Capitals fan, so I know you watched Wideman play this year. Someone just paid him $26.25 million. Think about that.

Apparently, no matter how ****-tarded it seems to the rest of us, people are actually lining up to pay defencemen stupid money.

Plenty of teams have loads of cap space. There's the pending expiration of the CBA and uncertainty of what next season's cap will be that could also factor in to a team's spending. While I don't doubt that the Pens will look to make some upgrades, the idea of them going on a crazy spending spree by offering $7.5M and $6.5M for more offense without addressing their defense is rather silly.

You completely missed the point.

GMs aren't stupid. They know that dumping Martin and Kennedy would result in a chance to sign Parise and Semin.

I'm sure they would rather be without Martin than have the Pens have Parise &/or Semin..

Hopefully McPhee can swindle a 2nd rounder for him, he's worth it.

Ahhh, so your hypothetical Penguins will be looking to outscore everyone 6-5?

A lot on the Pens' board would prefer going Parise rather than Suter if we happen to have a choice. Too many focus on one bad series against the Flyers and are missing what the Pens actually have on defense.

There are some NHL ready defensemen who could step in right now, Despres certainly, but Brian Dumoulin and Morrow as well would be playing on a lot of teams. Yes, rookies even good ones make boneheaded plays. I remember Goligoski and even Letang their first year and they made some brutal plays now and then. But they need to learn sometime, and tying your team up to Suter for the ten years he will want will be regretted at some point down the road given that the Pens have the most defensive prospects, quality prospects, in the NHL, but almost nothing on wing in the minors. So yeah, if they could swing it, Parise and Semin would be amazing. Certainly at least one player like that over a defenseman that will cost you $8 million per year.

No way Pens do this IMO. If they are lucky enough to get ZP then no way Semin is signed by RS. He will get some kind of vet D or stick with Martin. Maybe take a chance with Radulov (not something I would be for either) is something RS 'might' toy with.

That sure stopped Don Maloney from trading for Michalek.

Semin is one of the most talented players in the world. Is WAS really stupid enough to let him go? Who do they have to replace his caliber of talent?

IF they are willing to trade semin's rights, maybe because of the oates signing, they have the inside track to parise.

It's like an amicable divorce. Both the player and team have fallen out of love and both need a change.

He's inconsistent and lacks work ethic. He's had diminishing returns for the past 3 years. He has 12 points in his last 30 playoff games (Sullivan has 12 in his last 21). And he'll be very expensive.

So...a few reasons.
