Okay they won one game but not exactly regular season or playoff circumstances
Paul Maurice made those changes after the game was decided and SKA's quality was shown. After watching that game there is no doubt who the better team was.

the NHL has no interesting in playing the KHL cause they have nothing to gain from it, can't blame them for that, that's the reality of the situation.

Also I'm not really sure what the WC's have proven... Russia has been a close to full strength team and Canada has been a B or C team the last few years

I looked at the Omsk roster, Aside from Frolov and Roman Cervenka I don't see anyone I'd consider that special.
Ok, you've said enough. There's no point further discussing this. That just shows your lack of knowledge about KHL players. Players like Perezhogin and Popov were on the killer line with Malkin in the WC and looked amazing. They were outstanding in PO as well.

There are others who's skill level you have no idea about.

yes... the game was decided at 2-2, good to know games are decided at a tied score, i'll remember that

Perezhogin is nothing special at all... nor is Popov to be totally honest. A lot of people look amazing when paired with Malkin... it's Malkin

The population of NYC is approximately 25% of Canada's. The metro area supports 3 NHL teams and has more sports fans, including a lot of Russians in Brooklyn, like a previous poster said.

means nothing, if those games average more the 3-4 thousand people in the stands I will be very surprised.

The fact that you consider Frolov a 'special player' on Avangard shows you neither watch nor follow KHL hockey.

Maybe trying to get the NHL and KHL to make peace and join

But one awesome thing would be having the KHL champion and Stanley Cup champions faceoff after its all over, or in the preseason would be cool too.

KHL games in New York? So in case of a NHL lockout New York still gets to see the best hockey league in the world.

I never said I consider him special on Omsk, I just happen to like him as a player, don't know for sure why but hey whatever

plus he had some great years on LA

There was nothing particularly impressive about that video, sure they both have some finish, but I didnt see anything that demonstrated 1st line NHL skills, maybe they could make the top line on a few of the bottom feeders but I don't see enough skill there to put them into NHL playoff contention

Of course, neither of them will probably score Lemieux-esque goal in the NHL like Malkin did, but come on, you can't pair a total no-name with Geno and expect great results.

They both are at least as good as Frolov (2 playoff goals ). BTW, if Fro is so great, why wasn't he invited to the Worlds?

On topic: who do you guys expect to defect to the NHL this time?

Is This Still Happening?

What's the latest on this? Last I heard it was going to be on Jan. 19 and 20. Nothing is on the Barclays calendar for those dates.

If I find out anything new I will bump this thread. I will definitely go to a game too if this actually happens.

Man, this arena sucks. Have you seen its hockey configuration?

It will look something like this.

Nope, it was supposed to be a preseason game. And it sucks because for the half of arena the view on the rink is obstructed, so they don't sell tickets for those seats.

I would still love to go to this game if it happens. If for no other reason than to just give a huge middle finger to the nhl!
