I saw on this board a few days ago that Bowman has said that GM's expect the cap to actually be in the ballpark of that 70M number. But take it with a grain of salt - I don't have a link and that may not have been true in the first place.
It will be unless the cba rolls it back, in which case salaries would be too. Its not a worry.

If we got Parise it would make sense on many levels. Parise gives us grit Roy is a small center, but fits in fine costing less than Kane. Overall this would make the Blackhawks better, more physical and give us prospects. Kane could get traded, but more than likely it would be in the last year of his contract. I have no beef with Kane, but Parise gives us a different dynamic.
If Saad is on the team, it means we aren't Cup contenders. What did Saad do last year that screamed top 6 on a Cup contender? Lets let the kid at least get a year in professional hockey before we get too excited about him.
You can say Saad is unproven in a full-time top 6 role, but by the same token, you have absolutely no idea how he'll play in such a role.
If he comes in and plays well (which he's certainly capable of doing), we're absolutely Cup contenders.
He played on the Hawks last year, did you forget? What did he do to make you think he was going to be a top 6 player on a Stanely Cup team? 1 point in 4 games last year.

Extremely small sample size. Way too small to start trying to use stats as evidence of anything.
Some of us take Bolland for granted. He is the best third line center in the world. Think about that. He is our playoff warrior, gets under people's skin, and can frustrate the opposition's top forwards. Guys like him don't grow on trees. Personally, I hope he's a Hawk for at least another five years. If Teuvo and Mark are really, really good, Bolland would be sick on the fourth line if you really needed him to be.
I agree that Mueller would be a nice 2nd line addition. he plays much better at center, but for whatever reason, teams put him at LW half the time...never understood it, but maybe with his concussions they wanted him skating less over the middle of the ice perhaps...dunno.
He would be an amazing get for a number of reasons (espoecially for Hossa) but going into the season with two injury risks as your #2 and #3 centers is just too risky. I like Mueller (even though he doesn't play like his size, his hockey sense and vision is top notch as you stated) but he is literally one head hit away from retiring at his young age.
And there are few of us here who love Bolland's offensive potential, but there are few of us. Would love to see him with talented wingers again (Ladd/Havlat) and watch him develop as I still feel his development has been stunted by injuries and current management keeping him on the third line when he was once considered the #2 center of the future, but I digress.

Saad's given me no reason to not be absolutely stoked at the thought of him playing alongside Toews and Kane next year. The kid is a beast, he's simply a beast.
Every player in unrpoven until they do something in the NHL.. whether they destroy the OHL or dominate the AHL, it doesn't mean much either way until they do something in the NHL. I'm extremely confident in Saad's ability to be an impact player in the NHL and I'm just as confident that he'll be making an impact in Chicago next year.

How is he a beast? Because he destroyed a bunch of 16 and 17 year old kids? He killed in the OHL but so have a lot of people and not all of them became even good pro's.

You're right.
But your previous post is dead wrong. How does Saad being on the team mean the Hawks aren't cup contenders? What team wins the cup with no rookies?

Saad at 16 was as strong as some 20 year olds. Saad at 18 was as strong as a professional already. With skating improvement and consistency he will be a beast.
Saad was as strong as Ladd,
At the age of 18 years old,
His frame is big and badd
And his wrist shot is very bold,
He will enter our top nine,
Win battles shoot and score
He will do this just fine,
SAAD, a new piece to the core!
