not sure making a "hometown" pick has that much stigma leaguewide. Didn't the Ottawa GM flatly say they try to get as many locals as they can in the club? That they prefer them?

From what I can tell, Corbett hasn't even been to invited to anyone prospect camp yet.
Obviously it's not an authority on the matter, but the FA Invitee thread does not have him being invited to any camps.

Ceci was a homer pick.

That I can't say. I can say this, however. In the decades I've been following the NHL draft, I have never seen a MN High School kid that is 5'10" and 162 lbs. drafted because he has character and ranked (as a forward) as the 500 somethingth scorer in MNHS. I don't know if you've looked at an NHL roster lately, but 5'10" and under players SCORE, they aren't there because they have "character". 6'1" 210 lb. players that can't score are on NHL rosters because they have character. I think it's also kind of telling that the player in question was 500 somethingth in MNHS scoring while playing on the 2nd line. It's not like every team's game plan is "forget about those high scoring guys on the first line, you gotta stop that low scoring guy on the second line".

Again other than "character", what does he bring to the table? While I'm not doubting his character - if you don't have the skill set, how much good is that?

Meh, it's not like they plucked him off of Spring Lake Park's JV team. He's a legit D1 recruit from a big-time Minnesota HS program. He's a project, and we'll just have to see what happens.

Yea, this reminds me of talking about politics. I don't like it.

I'm sorry, I PROMISE this is my last post. Legit D1 recruit? Do you know what kind of scholarship he's been offered? 1/4, 1/2, full, books, nothing? If I had to guess, I'd bet Lou Sr. is footing the bill for everything. IMHO. I promise, no more.

So, the players that don't get scholarships are complete ****? Come on. Find something better to talk about.

Reminds me of Adam Jones from Tool mixed with David Gilmour from Pink Floyd.

Check out the band Riverside. Some of their earlier stuff sounds very much like Tool and Pink Floyd combined.
