No he isn't. I think he'd fit well here due to the fact he could just step in and play his game and not have the weight of a franchise on his shoulders. Not to mention no need to uproot his family.

This is the same reason I don't want poni, sure he has great hands is big and is moderately fast but rarely does he ever put that all together. Nor does he throw a body check or back check or block shots...

we have never signed a major ufa and i dont see why that would start now. nash is the only remote possibility, totally depends if howson becomes unstupid and dw really does trade away pavs for him.

He's a good offensive player that would add depth, we can get him some line mates to help in these other area.

Whitney and Doan are the only real possibilities and they aren't all that likely. The sharks have been able to recruit old dudes before (Blake) so I don't think someone like Whitney is out of the question.

If we acquire Ott Boyle might demand a trade

With the right line mates Whitney would do well here. He'd not have to be the man offensively and would play against other teams bottom half players.

Only ten forwards in the NHL put up more points than Ray Whitney last season. Little FYI that might surprise some.

Whitney-Marleau-Havlat would be a good 2nd line. Then you could move Logan up to play with Joe. I don't like Pavs with Joe, so assume they trade Pavs + Clowe + 2013 1st for Nash + 2013 1st, you would have Couture-Thornton-Nash. That's a pretty good top 6 and we probably get a good pick next year.

haha at nash + columbus 1st round draft pick (which is all but guaranteed to be top 3 without nash).

pavs and clowe alone wouldn't get you the 1st round top 3 pick. let alone nash along with it.

I really hope the sharks don't land Ott, I think I hate him more than anyone currently in the NHL other than Raffi Torres.

C'mon man, Perry's gotta be in the mix of hatred there

I'm not so sure if I'd enjoy Ott on the team or not. I get the feeling that his antics wouldn't work out as well on our team as it does for Dallas.

Ott would like it here now that the "cheap-shot artist Heatley" is gone.

Is there a reason Ott's name is coming up? I haven't heard his name in offseason trade rumors.

Also, have the Sharks and Stars ever made a trade? That seems like the one Pacific Div team that the Sharks want no part of for trades.

Living here in D-town (yuck except for Verizon FIOS and my recently bumped up to 75/35 internet connection where I actually get ~83.5 megabits down and no caps, but I digress), I said during the season the Stars culture, especially the whining, needs to change, and that change should happen by moving Robeiro and Ott for starters.

They moved Robeiro, but I doubt they also move Ott despite the positive effect it would have on team culture. He's still a good player and so much of a fan favorite that attendance/ratings would suffer if Ott was shipped out too. That said, the few Stars fans that actually exist would crucify the team for shipping Ott to the Sharks.

Marchment never played for the Stars. We got him from Tampa.
