Someone needs to put a hurtin on the Flyers first game of the season for all the tomfoolery they pulled in Game 5, don't want Baby Gio doing that...gotta be Cam.
Fact of the matter is, over the course of a long 82 game regular season, you're going to need your fighters at some point. Thus the need for someone like Janssen and Boulton in the lineup.
So Cam plays 30 games, 4 minutes each game. So Kovalchuk ends up playing 25+ minutes in those games to make up the difference. Yes, I like this plan much better than the competant 4th line we had in the playoffs who could play the sport, be physical, and *GASP* even score goals.
Can't we just get the guy season tickets behind the Devils bench and a locker room pass and let him do all the high-fives and "character" stuff he wants.
Honestly, I had my fill of the guy 6 years ago. I've seen enough.
Why does this bother so many people? It's a 1 year, 2 way deal and he's being brought back for his character. He may barely play at all. Either way, this is a loyalty move for what he brings to the team outside of the game.

it bothers many because they feel that the 575k he is making is really Zach's money and now we wont have the 8-9mil that it will probably cost us to keep Zach here
I guess some teams still goon it up, but it just feel like Lou is afraid of going into any season with out a goon. Live it a little, jump out without a parachute.
I know you have better memories of him than me for other season's past, but I really do prefer Cam in the lineup than Boulton. Boulton took too many stupid penalties at the worst times and didn't really counter that with any "impact". Cam at least seemed to know how to throw a hit or 4 in his 3 minutes of ice time and get back to the bench and not the box.
That and I just like the way Cam barks back the linesmen during fights and tires out his opponent before going full beserker.
Sure I know Boulton has more goal potential, can handle more frequent shifts in theory, but I just didn't see it last season. I'd rather have pure energy guy Cam as our "thug" if we are dressing one.
The guy is the ultimate teammate, it's obvious that his team loves him. Even if he comes back to be the locker room jokester, I'm all for it. Cam is great.
I like it, I like Cam, good signing. Good 4th lines that produce dont win cups, otherwise Jersey would of won it.... Idiots. Its all about that 3rd line.
