Who is Sidney Crosby Comparable too in the way that he plays and the things he's accomplished? Just a thread to make me less bored.

He's a smaller, faster, more skilled, weaker, less aggressive, smarter, softer, whinier, more successful, more attractive, less durable Turner Stevenson.

Pat Lafontaine - All the ability in the world, but will probably have his career ended by concussions.

like Peter Forsberg with a much better scoring touch and better durability but a little less skill and less raw power.

He possesses the rare abilities of former Flyer great Brent Fedyk mixed with the unique skill of one Branko Radivojevic

Who is 87 comparable too?

People forget a lot of things about Sid are average.

Average height
Average shot for a top 6 player
Below average physical play
Some would argue average leadership abilities
He's not a dominating force on the power play like some playmakers are

He does do other things better. I can't really think about who I would compare him to.

Claude Giroux? Maybe Jagr?

What about Parise? He's grittier though right? Hard to compare Sid the Kid with anyone. He's so good with his feet. But, lately, he's lost a step. Which isn't to say he's still great. He'll likely bounce back this year and we'll end up having the whole conversation over again.

yeah, don't really want to sound like a fanboy but what in the world?

the guy scored 50 G and 32 G in 41 games, you can't have an average shot with those numbers.

his play is definitely physical, he's strong on the puck, he is great on corners digging for the puck, he's very good at scoring garbage goals in the proximity of the net.

we don't know about his leadership abilities, we have never been in the Pens' locker-room, have we?

hard to compare him with anyone. I haven't seen a player working so hard to become elite at everything hockey.

Joe Sakic with a worse shot, but better vision

Overall I'd say nobody. In some ways Forsberg, Lafontaine, Dionne (if I remember right) just to mention a few. To me he's kinda unique among the best players ever.

He adapts his game to who he's playing with. But I'd say he's a less mean but more skilled version of Forsberg.

He's the closest we've seen to the great Aki Berg since his holiness departed our world.

Reminds me of Sakic, just his scoring/skating style.

2 weeks ago I could have made the most relevant "championship" joke.
