That's pretty ironic.

See also: Gretzky, Wayne.

Anyway, grats to Oates on the job and the HHOF.

Had such a blast watching Oates and Neely play together. It just seems right they should both be in the Hall. Makes you realize what you had here when there were three Hall of Famers playing together every single night, and only one of the greatest teams every produced (with about half a dozen Hall of Famers) kept the Bruins from Stanley Cup champions. Great day for Adam, and very happy for him.

Three HHOF'ers as your 3 captains. Not too bad.

Good to see him get the coaching job and him and the other 3 getting into the hall but what about Pat Burns? It's already long overdue.

The fact that he wasn't inducted while he was alive is BS.

The NHL has rarely done the right thing in quick fashion have they Bridges, silly if you ask me, Burnsy deserves to be, everyone knows it and why they wait is beyond me

This is what puzzles me the most. Likely some sort of political BS because of his position in the league.

I'm not saying the guys that got selected aren't deserving because they are but I would have voted Shanahan in over Oates, Sundin or Bure this year.

The Pat Burns snub baffles me. How is he not in there?

It must be that Hartford cartel that controls all the HOF voting. They are still mad that he shot his way out of town in 1996.

Or maybe Craig Janney is on the committee. It's so secretive so we may never know.

I'm a little surprised Bure or Sundin made it, but they were great players. Seeing them and Sakic play regularly makes me feel old.

Shanahan will make it next year. How many years has he been nominated? Lindros has been nominated for a couple years.

This was Shanny's first year eligible.

Next year's class is going to be interesting because JR, Chelios, Brind'Amour and Scott Niedermayer get added to the list of potential members.

Modano and Recchi are eligible in 2014.
