Latendresse, Hudler, Penner.
Solid list, though I really don't see Yandle as the kind of D we need. I'm glad I'm not the only person that doesn't think Penner would be a terrible choice.

Me too, but you can't just assume other teams want to trade us their players though

There is nothing out there to suggest he is even available. I don't know why people keep bringing his name up.

He is a difference maker & you can't have enough of them IMO.

He's obviously a good player and would do wonders for our powerplay. I'd take him over Martin or Niskanen 11 times out of 10. It just depends how much we'd need to give up to get him.

From Oilers forum:

"@nielson1260: Hearing this morning that the Oilers may be looking at trading for an offensive d-man out of the Eastern Conference"

Could Maul Partin be interested in playing there if Shero signs Suter?

Minnesota has the forward prospects coming to replace Seto. They don't have it on the backend. Not saying we can get Setoguchi, but I certainly make a push for him as soon as we miss in free agency and Ryan isn't an option.

I'd put money on Seto being a Pen next year over Bobby Ryan. But we seem to be talking a lot about the latter. Even though we don't really make good trading partners.

No one saw the Neal trade coming. Just some posters commenting that it was a solid hockey trade.

is he really considered an offensive d-man?

Hey I hope it happens. I just think we talk about guys like Ryan because they are publicly being shopped.

d-man(ish) I guess.

I'd do Joe Morrow for Jordan Eberle.

Ryan is more than option than Seto. Despite what Ducks fans have lead themselves to believe it sounds like with Ryan it's a money issue so they are looking for young high end prospects. We have a ton of those. Seto's name hasn't even been put out there because Minnesota needs offense so it wouldn't make any sense for them trade him.

Interesting. But Paul Martin isn't an offensive D-Man and he isn't accepting a trade to Edmonton. Although if they call him an offensive D-Man maybe he'll be touched and accept the trade.

Do not want PA Parenteau either. Only way I take him is if he's cheap and is basically the Sully or TK (If he's moved) replacement. I don't want him as the winger for Sid and I am sure Sid feels the same way.

I suppose it depends on what the meaning of the word 'offensive' is.

Expect the Penguins to announce Sidney Crosby's contract extension on Sunday. Over $100 million dollars with an AAV of close to $9 mil per.

So 12 year deal at 9 per is 108 mil. 8.7 per is 104.4 mil. Either way that's awesome. Geno takes the same and we are in good shape. Could sign Suter and Parise long term. Awesome.

Ya, I figure when they say close to 9 that means he keeps his 8.7?

12 x 9.05 per = 108.7
11 x 8.97 per = 98.7

And, yes, Parise and Suter are in play . . .

We're lucky to have that guy here. 9 mil/year is ridiculous for what he brings with this salary cap. Use the money wisely on Sunday Shero.

I really doubt he'd crack our lineup and he certainly wouldn't play in the playoffs. I think the ideal thing is to find big guys that can play the game and will be in the lineup come playoff time.
I would love, love, love Moen. Pay him 3M and dump Kennedy's 2M, and the third line is instantly playoff-ready.

Any suggestions?

You know, I posted this after the Staal trade, and with this news, I'll post it again: For the past week, I've absolutely felt like a Leafs fan when it comes to rumors, except the Pens actually are in everything and the Pens don't suck.

Bring on Suter, boys.

I still think Parise stays in Jersey.

You like him that much? Just me but I really don't know how anyone can say Setoguchi is better than Hudler. He's a better skater and that's literally it. Hudler would fit like a glove on this team.

I think I feel too good about us getting Parise and Suter. I keep saying "yeah I don't think it will happen" but inside I'm thinking "I'm sure will get at least one of them". Admittedly, I will be pretty disappointed if we don't get either.

Good to know that your poor plumbing skills could save your life this weekend!
