FLA puts Mike Santorelli & Matt Bradley on unconditional waivers[Cleared]
I think the injury affected Santo last season, he was pretty good the yr before. Avs have lost McClement to FA probably and need a 3rd or 4th line C, DO IT SHERMINATOR!

The reason Florida is getting rid of Santo is the same as why the Preds ditched him. He is a horrific bottom six player, so if he isn't good enough to play in your top six, he is worthless.

Bradley would be a much better fit, I'd be really happy if we got him.
Unconditional for Bradley! So they won't be any buyout cap hit in his case?
I assume so. Unconditional waivers usually means a mutual agreement to terminate the contract, so there won't be a buyout it doesn't look like. Bradley probably figures he can sign elsewhere this summer and still bring in a paycheck.
Santorelli was the Panthers' 2nd line center when he had his best year. Now the Panthers are a better team and he won't see the top 6 anymore, rendering him useless. The only reason he was in the Panthers' top 6 was because the team wasn't good and he's the option they had. Now that the team brought in new, better players last year, Santorelli is unneeded and finds himself in the press box. It still puzzles me how he managed to score 20+ goals one year but I think it was a one-time thing. I don't see him doing it again.
I would be surprised if someone didn't grab Bradley. Seems like a great physical team player. I guess if he is being bought out and people think they can get a better deal on him on July 1, they would stay away. But I think he is cheap enough as it is.
No. Bradley is definitely the better of the two. He works hard every shift and actually HITS. Something the Panthers simply hate doing sans Gudbranson. Don't rely on him for offense and you'll be fine. Good 4th line player.
Bradley is a solid citizen, and he would have remained a good, solid citizen in Washington. Yet his fans in the NHL community were many around the league, for what he brings to his role. That brought him a nice two-year UFA contract, on which he was set to make $1M in 2012-13 (cap hit of $950,000).
This is a player who fits best not making too much more than the NHL minimum, given what he provides. Ballpark anyway. If he's back in that range, or split the difference at most, he'll have his pick of NHL landing spots.

I know there are guys that can do what he does for a bit less, but is 900K-1M really THAT much more than 600K?

Washington and now Florida thought so, and you can make of that what you will. My guess is that he isn't going to have much trouble signing a new contract, and that it will be a lot closer to $600K than it is to $1M. That will be the third team to think the answer to your question is yes.
Of course, he could find another team eager to give him $1M... but I doubt it.
Everytime we played the Panthers Santorelli was one of the most dangerous players if not the most dangerous player on their team. Really surprised to see him on waivers (41 points a year ago etc.).

This.
Santo has the tools of a scoring player. Unfortunately those tools aren't THAT great. If you have decent depth on your top two-lines, Santorelli is useless to your team. He needs to play with other offensive players otherwise he'll have a season like he did last year.
When he scored 20 goals, we were a terrible hockey team with a bunch of grinders. Mike played on our 2nd line, therefore he scored more. Now that we've signed players, there's no need for him.
He's got a good wrist shot (when he hits the net) and decent skating, just poor hockey sense really.
Bradley is a great guy to have, unfortunately he is just a victim to the numbers game. Expecting him to be picked up barring that he's healthy.
I think this all but guarantees that Tallon will sign someone up front on July 1st.
