Rask signs 1 year @ $3.5mil.

I'm really hoping we retain Matt Carle. I think I'm alone on that, though...

Seems he always has good games against us. Def look at him for bottom 6 role.

Quick signed a 10 year extension with the Kings. No numbers yet. He's 26 so that will take him through till he's 36, depending on what the last few years will pay.

Edit: He'll be 38 after it ends, he has 1 year left on his current deal. Sounds like the cap hit will be in the 6+ range.

That's a tad high for a 35+ player like Gill. I don't like these high trends for (re)signing Dmen.

Yup, but he's Nashville's problem!

I don't think it's that high. He drops from 2.25 on his current contract, while the cap goes up, and he was damn good for Montreal on the pk. If he can log heavy minutes there for Nashville, and also be a steadying presence for Ellis (or some other young dman of theirs) on the third pairing, I'm sure they won't mind paying Gill 2m.

Wow...I wanna say that's too much, but that's hard to say after this year. I don't think his hips will ever survive ten more years of playing how he does now.

That's an interesting clause in his contract that, at the 5-year mark, he has to change his name to Still Pretty Fast, and then at 8 years, it becomes Slow But Covers His Angles.

Found this on the main boards and found it very interesting.

Sources say Weber won’t sign long-term if Suter leaves and David Poile can’t afford to lose both players for nothing. He may have no choice but to trade Weber. Being in Poile’s shoes is not a comfortable place right now.
Also about Matt Carle

Matt Carle will be free come July 1. There's talk of him wanting to sign with Colorado where he played his college hockey. he'll have multiple options

Hope we can trade not a lot to get Weber's rights then.

Lol, it would take a major major payment to get him, one that I would be extremely willing to pay too.

Think Couturier++ may have to go the other way if Weber is involved

It has been said before, but if he would tell us he would be willing to sign an extension with the Flyers if we trade for him. I would do it.

Agreed. Couturier is a monster and would hate to lose him but if there is a short list of 2 or 3 players available I'd move him for Weber is #1 on the list

Couturier is/should be untouchable even for Weber. I would rather move the Schenns before him.

Schenns, Read and a 1st (this is assuming we have a deal longterm for Weber signed) probably gets it done. Without the new contract, I don't know how you make an appropriate offer.

Two questions: Why didn't Homer trade up for Ceci? If Carle walks, should the flyers trade for Nikitin? I'd like them to do so, but I have no idea what he'd cost. I think Nikitin's new contract is an absolute steal.

I would hope Howson has sworn off of trading with Holmgren at this point. And what has Nikitin done to make that contract a steal?

7 goals, 32 points, wicked slapper and wrister from the point. He can move the puck and battle along the boards. Dude's about to break out.

I ask because I am pretty unfamiliar with the player.

What did you think would be fair for Holmgren to offer for him? I would guess Howson wants a forward...

I honestly don't know what would be fair. I'm sure they'd want a forward since they seem stacked at D now. I was very surprised he signed for less than 3mill. Check him out on youtube. He's basically Meszaros with upside for half the money.

Nikitin and Meszaros are the same age. And Meszaros on his game is a pretty damn good player. I don't think a lot of people respect his game.

I think we're pretty well set on D right now unless it involves us getting a #1, or at least potential #1 guy.
