Yupppppp. Exactly my point too.

And now, to find a new backup!

Worked well for other goalies, at least we know he has proven to be durable before we gave him the big deal.

That's what LTIR is for, should they need it.

So the first 7 years is 7 mil. Thats 49 million. Lets say the numbers down to 4 3 2 mil in the last three years, thatd make it 58 million for a cap hit of 5.8M. so that'd be my guess.

10 years is too long for me. I hope we don't get burned on this. Happy that it's a lesser cap hit though. Quick will be 37 when this deal is over, correct?

One of the TSN guys said 38. Its one of the two. But seeing the way Brodeur competed at 40 and both were more athletic, non-fundamental goalies, I'm not worried.

Assuming LeBrun's comment was right, Dreger really stepped out on a limb there, didn't he? LeBrun said first seven years are $7 million, so that's $49 million. Even at the league minimum for three years, Quick's contract would got over the $50 million mark.

Dreger rarely breaks anything.

I'm guessing the final three years are $5 mill, $4 mill, and $3 mill, so $61 million over 10 years, so about $6.1 million cap hit.

Dean Lombardi statement: ''We are very happy to have a long-term agreement in place with one of our top young players. (more)

''...At this point we prefer to comment more on or around July 1.''

We might not get the cap hit until then.

It'll likely leak out before that. There's leaks in the NHL offices and NHLPA. Usually the last place to announce the cap hit is the team itself.

Seriously.

He could have commanded a lot more, even on a 10 year deal anything in the 5's is a steal.
