Definitely called 58 million once I heard 10. If he can keep his game up for the entire contract the Kings got a heck of a steal. Love to see he's here for the long haul after being the guy who carried everyone to the playoffs. Man does less than six million per year sound good.
Like others, not huge on the length (ending at 38 hopefully shouldn't be terrible), but $7 x first 7 years is probably fair for him. I'd be willing to bet someone would pay more. To be fair, we're paying for some RFA years, so he "should be" a bit cheaper. So technically, he's being paid a lot more than Bryz and Luongo.
you see doughty, this is how you're supposed to do it. i hope you realize how stupid you looked
wow people complaining about 10 years, I'll be very happy to be alive and kicking in 10 years much less worried about Quick being 38 at that time, sheesh enjoy the Cup and the next 5 years of Quicks prime, they rest will work itself out.
on the Bernier side of things, I also think he had a lot more potential than Quick but he could never out play him. I'll be sad to see him go but he could bring in some good hockey chips, that could help this team in the future instead of grabbing the flavor of the month high priced FA's
If it is 7 years for $7 million each ($49 million) then $4-3-2 million for last three, that's awesome. The Kings will be paying Quick well during his prime. With his athleticism, Quick should be good for at least 5-8 more years. Maybe more. If his play drops off in 2020, oh well. We'll have three Stanley Cups by then.
Well done by Quick and by Lombardi. Good cap number and the MAN gets paid.
i'm referring more to the hold out and having to push and pull to be the #1 paid guy. Quick has been the best player on the team for quite a while, he could have pulled the same routine with far more reason.
plus, drew has more RFA years, so again, it's a bit different.
If it translates into five Stanley Cups, are you really going to be upset if we bring up the NHL rear after that for a few years?
(It's a rhetorical question.)
Dude five lol we won one and now I can die a happy guy, we will contend now for years with just the guys we have signed not counting the kids coming and any cups we win will be gravy, after my personal 38 year wait for them to do it I literally can't concieve of 5 ......is this ****ing great or what
GREAT NEWS. But I was hoping for less than 7 years. 10 is just too much. That's the only thing that is bothering me...
That is really what was signed a 7 year deal with 3 to lower the cap. And if for some strange reason he is still not playing amazing at the end of the 7 there will be teams wanting to take on the reduced payroll but higher cap hit. I will take email@example.com vs 7@7 any day.
