2012 Wild Prospect Development Camp

I figured the information about prospect camp deserves its own thread. While we've yet to see a list of invitees, some information is known, and is leaking out.

Camp will be July 8-15.

Per this guy, July 12th at 7 pm and July 15th at 11 am.

The St. Cloud Times report that St. Cloud State player Drew LeBlanc (23 year old undrafted center) has been invited.

Russo updated a few players who were invited: Cody Corbett - 18 - D - Edmonton Oil Kings, Bobby Farnham - 23 - C - Brown Univ (Graduated), Marshall Everson - 21 - LW - Harvard.

Per some blog, Mackenzie Skapski - 18 - G - Kootenay Ice will be in attendance.

Don't have my kid that weekend but I'll probably go to the scrimmage anyway. The scrimmages have been 10x more fun than actual Wild games the last couple years.

Neat. Perhaps we could leave the doomsday **** out of this thread at least?

I haven't seen a Wild game since '06. Doesn't make me a bad fan.

Quite frankly I'd fancy this thread not turning into another "Boohoo, the Wild suck" thread.

Second time away from my computer during the scrimmages. At least last time my phone did the trick semi-well, so I'm hoping I'll be able to watch the scrimmages again. Or that they're streamed in the first place. Would be interesting to see how Dumba performs. At the very least I just hope that Russo covers it this time.

Fine, I'll try being positive in this thread.

Interested to see how Dumba will stack up against the other D prospects.

Hopefully Coyle will prove that his huge point totals in his short time in the Q wasn't completely the result of him playing lesser players.

I think the biggest question will be if Brodin can make the team or not. If we don't get Suter or Carle, I don't think we have a choice but to put him on the roster.

I want to see if Coyle is ready for the NHL. I expect him to dominate and hopefully earn a top six spot with the Wild.

There's negativity because the team hasn't added any NHL'ers to the roster, which is 100% expected, because free agency hasn't happened yet. 90% of teams haven't added NHL'ers to their roster yet.

Yeah I'm disappointed and a lot of others are disappointed we lost Lats. A couple people seem to be really, really pessimistic, and lots of people just don't care.

We won't know for a week if the team will add any NHL talent or if they will get better. Right now they are worse. They may be better in a week. They may have to wait until late summer to make a trade and get better. Maybe they just bring in a few rookies and wait for October.

That would be awesome. I'm excited to see Coyle, but I think Phillips will surprise a lot of people.

Edit: I'm not saying Phillips will make the team - just that I think he's really going under the radar.

He won't surprise me. I'm still a bigger Phillips fan than Coyle fan. I will give Coyle the nod on NHL readiness though. Phillips could be our second best forward prospect, but he does have a fair bust potential because of the nature of his game (too many cute plays).

Lack of foot speed too. Did anybody notice skating improvement during this season?

Didn't he already improve a lot during last off-season?

Dramatically. From what we've heard, it sounds like his foot speed is below NHL average, but not to a level that would affect his play.

You and Dan need to go with FRB "credentials." Then you need to try get "insider access" as part of the press.

Saint John Sea dog fan here..Watched Phillips and Coyle this year alot, lol !
Charlie is more NHL ready TODAY, benefitted from the US college season, lots of gym time...Phillips, IMO needs a year in the AHL, as the Sea dogs went 3 straight years long into the playoffs and he played about 300 games of hockey over that time.

I LOVE Phillips upside, he played tremendously in games that mattered and the better the competition the better he played, he was the SEA DOGS Best player in the Memorial Cup, imo.....and to be selected the team Most Valuable Player, on a team with Galiev, Jurco, Beaulieau, Coyle, Huberdeau and Gauthier speaks to his ability. Certainly under the radar on these boards but not in Saint John or Canada.
I still think they both would benefit greatly from a year in the AHL, but I guesss thats what camp is for--the free agent period and the results of that will greatly effect the make up of the team this year--thats pretty profund, ha ha.............best to you guys in Minny
