I think we should trade Colin Wilson and Jon Blum (something around that) for Bobby Ryan and pick up one of Peter Mueller, Ray Whitney, Shane Doan. If we do that we could maybe attract Suter to re-sign for us and have a solid offense.

would be great if anaheim would give us ryan for wilson and blum
but I suspect it would take wilson + ellis+ one of spaling/halischuk/borque
players like ryan dont get traded often... the bidding war will be huge...
I think we should try to take a shot at some guys like Mueller, Latendresse (or however you spell it), and maybe even a bought-out Gomez that we sign for 1.5 million. Ryan Parent maybe?
thats a horrible example considering how dreadful that contract is .... wideman would have been stupid to reject that. a long term deal making almost 6 million per... wideman was on the caps 3rd pairing come crunch time...
and yes at this point its obvious every player would entertain offers.. barring massive overpayment. if you think otherwise, im not sure what to say

Who do we trade Ryan Parent to this time if we re-re-acquire him?

Wilson was traded for picks. I think he'd fetch more this off-season than most. We'd be able to shore up some picks for next year or use them at deadline to acquire anything we'd need.
I just called into Willy Daunkic to talk about bringing in a top scorer. Shane Doan came up, and he said "At this point in his career, Shane Doan is a 3rd or 4th liner."

they are talking about the titans now? typical..
that's funny that he said that. doan is a pretty clear top 6 forward

You know, I could use a job right now. Some of you may or may not like my opinions but I'd at least know that Doan is not a 3rd or 4th liner. I would love to host a talk show, whether it's just about the Preds, sports or just topics in general. I'm just amazed that Willy has done this as long as he has and still doesn't have a clue. If you're going to do anything for a living, you need to immerse yourself in what you do. He obviously doesn't.

Willy had a baseball stat book at a Preds radio show. He remains immersed in his first love.
doan, whitney, jokinen, semin, parise, parentau, samuelsson, jagr, hudler all options as upgrades offensively come sunday. not an impressive group honestly. id take parise then whitney.. then who knows.
latendresses and mueller as possible low risk moves. but those aren't the moves that will convince the big boys to stay.
poile's best route to acquire help offensively may be trade (bobby ryan?).. cap may be over 70 million so with suter* and other guys gone.. we will HAVE to spend money somewhere. im thinking this is what weber/suter allude to about commitment to winning.

Honestly, the only guys on that list I would stay away from would be Semin and Samuelsson.
Jokinen, Doan, Whitney, Hudler, Parenteau (im not convinced he's a product of Tavares) would all fill scoring roles here and make our top 6 better.
If I was DP, my first calls would be to see if we could get Doan/Whitney as a package, then call Jokinen (would be a #1 for us, durable, won't cost a fortune).
Parise and Jagr would be great, but I don't see us as being attractive to either of them.
I don't buy the whole Suter/Weber "were waiting to see if Nashville is committed to winning" theory. The fact is, we signed the best goaltender in the world to megamoney, are as opportunistic and active on the trade deadline as anyone, anywhere. And we've built a team around defense with the best defensive tandem in the NHL. What the heck more are they asking for?
With Rinne/Suter/Weber, there will be no team in the NHL that will put together a better shot at a cup than us in the next 5 years or so. Maybe some as good, but none with a better shot.
I also think Jokinen would be our #1, and could focus on leading the scoring attack and the PP... let Fisher and Leggy run the two-way lines and some PK time, whoever has the hot hand gets the second PP unit.

if we are looking at someone to help offense in top 6, we should call whitney .. center, winger aside.. won't even mention parise $$$
figured if deal wasn't announced soon, he would. probably wanting an overpayment unlike gill. if gaustad wants over 2 million, let him go. he's a pk/defense guy that wins draws. a glorified smithson, not worth 2.5 million +
you almost wonder if it was either/or with Gill and Gaustad... the PK was the strong suit for both of them... with Gill signed and plenty of bottom 6 options at center, there was no need to overpay just to get him to sign early.....
