Where in the NHL is Jonathan Bernier (gonna land)?

With Quick locked in for a decade plus, Bernier's gone within the next 12 months most likely.

When do you think LA deals him, and where do you think he's going to go?

I say one of New Jersey or Toronto as DL would likely want to move him out of the conference. If Toronto, I think it could be rather quickly, if New Jersey then I could see a mid-season deal, at the trade deadline, or even after the deadline. Likely what Broduer wants to do will dictate thinks from New Jersey's side.

Based on the returns of Lindback and Bobrovsky, LA, if they strictly want draft picks back, should be able to get a high 2nd/low 1st and another pick or two back as well, like a 3rd or 4th.

EDIT: Can a mod edit my brutal spelling in the title. Sorry about that

I'm still not convinced he'll be traded.

That's why i said in the next 12 months. He might not be traded right away, but if Quick is signed for 11 more years, then he's not going to stay as a backup forever.

If the Coyotes had moved to Quebec, he would have been an interesting goalie to put in front of the net of the "New Nordiques", but since that is not happening, it is more likely a team in desperate need of a number one goalie that will be the best outcome, both for JB and Kings management. At this moment, this could mean Toronto, Tampa Bay, Columbus and NY Islanders.

It is more than understandable, now that Jonathan Quick is signed for a decade or so and is confirmed as goalie number One, that JB, who has the potential to become a number one goaltender in the NHL, wants to be traded. Kings can hold on but not that long. JB was a classy guy all thru 2011-2012 but he really must become eager to prove his value and become a number one next year.

Go Kings Go! Let's get a Second one in a row!

With the Bobrovsky and Lindback trade Colombus and Tampa are out as players.

Teams that could use a goalie?

Devils
Leafs
Blackhawks maybe
Oilers maybe (Unless they are ready to go with Dubnyk)
Capitals maybe (Not convinced on Holtby OR Neuvirth as a starter)
Panthers could be in need if Markstrom has another set back

I wouldn't rule out the Fliers either. Sure they made a mistake in getting the dirt dog last year and they would be a long shot but I wouldn't rule them out.

My favorite(s) would be:

Toronto

Talk about a team that needs a new top young goalie. Burke is right there at getting him too.

Florida

Could really use him and and and..........

CBJ

For obvious reasons.

There are or may be other teams too but those are the teams that I could see him going to.

Can't see how Florida would be in the running for Bernier with Markstrom a year or less away from seeing NHL duty.

Markstrom will be a rookie when he comes in and will need at least another season or maybe even two before he takes the reigns. JB would be an ideal pick up for Fla. They would have their exceptional young starting goalie who they can deal if and or when Markstrom proves he can take the job away.

If Markstrom for whatever reason doesn't make it then they have their man, if he does then they will have one heck of a bargaining chip in JB.

So Holtby got Washington to game 7 of the 2nd round but you're not convinced he'll be a starter but are that Bernier will be? Makes sense, I suppose..

Which seems to me all the more reason for them to go out and get an established vet to fill in for a year while Markstrom gets his feet wet, instead of giving up significant assets for a player that may only be usable for a year or two and then replaced. Having two basically rookie goaltenders fighting, no matter how good they are, just seems like a recipe for disaster. Plus as you said Florida needs a lot more things on top of a goaltender. Better to give up those assets on other positions instead of another top young goaltender.

You make some good points but having two basically rookie goaltenders is exactly what we did with JQ and JB and it worked out great. In a best situation Fla could end up right where we are in regards to the netminding.

I am not saying a perfect fit and they are likely a long shot but I wouldn't rule them out.

Its like CBJ going after Bobrov, it doesn't mean that they wouldn't want a potential significant upgrade in JB as well.

Panthers already have #1 (Theodore) and goalie of future (Markstrom)

Jackets just acquired Bobrovsky to be there #1 ,, Stuck with Mason for another year (2.9M cap hit prevents them from dumping him) and just drafted several quality goalie prospects

Last I looked he was playing well and took them to playoffs (Then got injured)

He is cheap and effective to hold the fort while Markstrom gets his feet wet

You beat me to it.

Also again to those who didn't see it, there is nothing wrong and many things right in doing exactly what we just did with JQ and JB and that is exactly what could happen in what I have said is a streeeeeetttttccchhhh (if that helps) in Fla. Mason could easily be moved and having JB would give Markstrom a couple of needed years to get up to speed. If he can take the starting job away from JB then even better, you have a heavily liked goalie in JB to move to shore up needs.

CBJ could like one or the other over Bobrov (i mentioned him in my post) and JB. I mean it could be a best possible situation having two exceptional goalies (which has happened over and over throughout the years in the NHL) like we have just done early in their careers. Markstrom is a great young prospect but he has yet to make the NHL so lets give him a little time before we make him a starter.

Also aren't there a few rumors about Luongo going to Fla going around? I don't know much about them but there you go.

JB is young and ready and besides, I didn't say anything other than that Fla isn't out of the question and neither is CBJ among other teams too.

I stand by it, JB could end up anywhere and I think that along with TO Philly Fla and the CBJ's there are other teams that would love to have him. Heck Detroit would be a great fit for JB too as long as we are talking about impossible/possible places.

The one team that has been mentioned that I can't see him going to from us is EDM. Sure they would likely love to have him but will they give up what it would take to get him? I can't see it but again, who knows.

He's solid. But, I dont expect him to lead them through the playoffs. Hopefully Markstrom is ready sooner rather than later.
