A little bit of a surprise but I don't mind Nokelainen in a limited role.

Nothing wrong with cheap depth, he's versatile and decent at face offs.

Exactly. If he's expected to be a regular, it sucks. But the amount he's paid, it seems to me he'll be used sparingly.

If Mike Therrien plays Noky on first line and PP, will know there's a playbook somewhere.
Something like a wrestling script/

Not sure if fits... Someone else, other than Darche, is gone maybe?

Edit: Ah, had forgotten he's a center. Welcome back... our 4th line center

Hmm, faceoff skillz I guess. Maybe Therrien can get him playing some harder hockey. I thought he showed it for a few games when he came over and then devolved into more of a softy, perhaps he just got corrupted by the miasma, haha... Ah well, not a huge deal obviously at ridiculous low cost for a FO guy/13th forward!

Come to think of it, this makes pretty good sense. He's a lower-end NHL player but he's still an NHL player. Last season we had injuries and had to make a trade to get Nokelainen on our team, which showed how much we were lacking NHL depth. This way if we get injuries we won't have to waste a 5th round pick or something to round out the line-up.

I'm hoping he's in as a replacement for Engqvist, not Darche.

13th forward, no higher.

I will wait to see what Bergevin does next before I judge this signing but right now I don't like it.

Except for Jay McClement and Gaustad, there's no real 4th line center worth overpaying. I think this is a move to insure to have one.

He's not a bad player. As a 13th forward I can live with it.

Its not a big deal obviously but I think its a waste of a roster spot. I don't think Nokelainan belongs in the NHL and there are plenty of better C's available. I'm iffy on him even as an injury reserve. But its not like this is a crippling blunder either.
