Salary can't drop by more than 50% from year to year.

7x7=49
3.5= 52.5
1.25= 53.75
.625 = 54.375

Yea either Dreger or Mac said that. Maybe both. It will probably be between 57-62 million. Just my guess

It ends at an ideal time too, after he turns 36. Assuming he doesn't free fall next season and then suck for a decade.

Unlikely, but for a guy like Quick that relies alot on athleticsm, there are quite a few injuries for a goalie that could slow him down.

Apparently Bernier is as good as gone now too. ( which makes sense)

Good point about Bernier. His presence on the market potentially drives down Luongo's value as well, if Van plans on moving him.

Columbus may have jumped the gun a bit on Bob ? Leafs could make a play for him, but not sure if another young goalie is best for them. I think the Flames should make a play for him for when Kipper is done ??

10 years for Quick is just redic....at least though he got some "hardware" so some of those terms are compensation.

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
#NHL signing. Canucks agree on new 3 year deal worth 12M with G Cory Schneider. 4M is his new cap hit.

Quick's contract doesn't look so bad

If Schneider can really keep up the play he had this past season, he can be worth that.

Can't really compare a guy who hasn't won anything with a guy who just won a Cup, Smythe and was a Vezina runner up. Plus Schneider hasn't had the pressure on him like Luongo so you don't really know what you've got until he's been the #1 guy for a season.

Serious question: What are the odds of Pittsburgh signing both Suter AND Parise?

They have the cap I believe, but I think it's pretty safe to say they won't sign both. Both Malkin and Letang will hit UFA in the next couple of years, with Letang getting a pretty sizeable raise. If they sign Suter and Parise, there's a good chance they would lose at least one of those guys, which might be a worse option.

Dreger reporting that Martin Brodeur will test Free Agency! What a strange turn of events.

Martin Brodeur very likely to test free agent market. Brodeur has hired Pat Brisson (CAA) to represent him. Bidders get ready!

I wonder if Montreal would consider bring Brodeur in as Price's backup.

I don't think it's a matter of would Montreal want him to be a back up, I think it's more of a would Brodeur accept being a back up? I don't see it. He'll retire before that.

Too expensive, I would think. He can get starter's money from Toronto.
