Waivers have nothing to do with 1-way or 2-way contracts. Prosser is not exempt from waivers on account of 3 years served. Even without the years factor, he would have been within 4 games played of losing eligibility on that front. He has a chance of clearing waivers if sent down out of camp, but would be a question mark later in the season as injuries strike other teams. I would be surprised if a team were to claim him without having sustained injury, but it's always possible.

My facepalm comment was because, between TaLoN and myself (at least I'm fairly certain he's the other one tackling that) we've corrected the 1-way/2-way issue probably about 6 times in the past month alone.

Best case scenario: Wild sign Schultz, and people around this place start breathing again.

Worst case scenario: Schultz signs elsewhere, and fans have their hearts torn to shreds twice in a matter of days.

Tighten your helmets, kids. This is gonna get bumpy!

I doubt people would be mad if Schultz doesn't sign here.

I mean, that was totally unexpected.

Ah, alright. Whether or not a player has to pass through waivers is determined by games played (?) - not contract status.

That's your worst case scenario? Schultz signing elsewhere is a given, a no brainer, a done deal. And you have ansgt about that?

It's age in the year the contract was signed, games played, and years from the time the contract was signed. Basically the rule of thumb is use CapGeeks' Waiver Calculator.

Awesome that we made his shortlist, he did play his college hockey in Wisconsin, so maybe we have a better shot than expected. Also, it's likely that we have room for him on our defense, and I'm sure he knows that. I doubt he'll sign with us, but it's kind of cool anyway.

Winnipeg actually wants one to start up with us so with them it's okay, but just don't even think it in the direction of edmonton or Vancouver fans.

Yeah we're probably the only team in the league where he could step in and not just get a guaranteed roster spot, but probably be a #1.

Highly doubt that he signs here. Although he'd get to play a lot. Would be pretty unreal to have so much young talent in one team.

I like the way Scandella played with Gilbert at the end of last year. I'd try to keep them together.

“@UWChuckSchwartz: Believe it or not, I couldn't reach Justin Schultz's agent on first call today. Shocking, I know. What else does he have going on? #sarcasm”
