Yes there is when you got people like you who insist it has to do with them being Russian.

The problem is, Semin disappeared, their was ****** Canadian players and ****** American players.

I'd take a bad offensively playoff player over a player ******** the bed during the playoffs like Suter/Weber did, and people want to give both those guys retirement contracts.

If he was looking for 6mil over 4 years, I'm sure he would of been resigned by now. My guess is, he signs for 7mil@5 years somewhere, or gives the caps a chance to match the best offer if no one is willing to give him the contract his agent wants for him.
Pretty sure the Caps just want to go in a new direction.

Wait are you actually comparing Semin to Suter, scratch that. Are you actually comparing him to SHEA WEBER? this is gold . Only the biggest homer in modern history would compare a lazy sniper to argubably the best D in the whole league...

I will give Semin $7mm for 5 years on the Wings - that is probably as long as Dats is going to play. After that, we'll see, the dude is only 28 years old.

YOU would be insane!

That being said, he will probably get that.

Semin can carry your team for a month at a time easily, the problem is he also disappears for MONTHS at a time, and always disappears in April.

There are moments when Semin is outstanding, providing a lethal scoring touch from the circles on in, and an underrated defensive game. The toolbox is full.

His desire blows hot and cold, irrespective of the importance of the game or series. Over the past ten years, the Capitals' brain trust has simply grown tired of it. They are opting to move on.

Semin is the guy you want on an already deep team to push them over the top.

Yeah, it might be a bit of an overpayment, but Datsyuk was considered a playoff choker back in 2005 when he was given his big deal - around the same age too. I think those two playing together will get it right. At the very least, it is a better July 1 strategy than pray we can pry Parise away from NJ.
