Brooks reveals playoffs will start Friday for the Rangers

From his NYPOST article today:

"The Rangers are saying that except for perhaps Martin Rucinsky, all of their injured athletes will be fine for the playoff opener next Friday. Which means Malik, Steve Rucchin, Darius Kasparaitis and Tom Poti. They expect Lundqvist will be able to play, as well, but he's been down now for five games with a hip-flexor injury that wasn't supposed to be much of an issue at all, at first."

I wonder if he can make that claim...

considering the Rangers currently do not know if they will win the division, be in the #4, 5 or #6 slot in the playoffs. Unless the 4/5 game and 3/6 game is slated for Friday - but I'm not sure I can give Brooks that much credit for thinking tha through. I'm hoping the first game's a home game and it's on a Friday - since I'll be there!

Saturday at 5:30 is the jordan HS all star game.
So I guess the Rangers will be Friday/Sunday.

That's the best reason I have seen for the Rangers starting Friday because Brooks could just be making a general statement since the playoffs start for everyone on Friday.

Also, this is assuming we win the division. If we don't, they will likely push us to Saturday since we'll be on the road.

There was an ad on TV last night (Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart) that said "It begins April 21st."

If they get home ice. If not, it probably comes down to scheduling at their opponents barn.

I believe that both Buffalo and Philly have trouble scheduling a game for Saturday.

Sell them to someone (for a fair price) that could use them.

I hate when people waste tickets.

larry didn't reveal any secret info the nhl playoffs start on friday and thats why you put that...you can bet $$ on the rangers opening saturday night as the league will want them on OLN on saturday night.

and you are kidding yourself if you think that msg won't reschedule a stupid hs game for a ranger playoff game. that schedule 'conflict' isn't a conflict at all

If the Rangers played on Saturday the 22nd...

the next game would be Monday the 24th, which is already occupied by Billy Joel. I think Friday/Sunday work better. The 21st and 23rd are curiously open.

This all assumes we get 3rd. If we get 5th none of this matters.

Yes, of course...

just going based on where things stood today.

Love the avatar by the way - became addicted to the show and that's bad when you hadn't seen any show before January this year. Watching 24 episodes in one weekend turns the mind to mush.

I have a friend who works at MSG. He said that if we get the 3 seed, game 1 would be Friday night. If we end up w/o home ice, the first home game is on the 24th.

I don't think that's possible about the 24th. If we get seed 5, our away games will be 21/23 or 22/24. Home games won't start until the 25th or 26th unless they decide to do back to back games which is pretty rare in the first 4 games.
